these are fantastic images!

Excellent, rich colour. Sharp focus. I'm very impressed.

Thanks for posting these.

Fuji S2 etc.

Check the links; you can read all of the EXIF info on the pbase site. For example, the first picture was:
1/800s f/2.0 at 200.0mm iso800 full exif

Very impressive for iso800; being wide open makes the images pop.
what was the iso?

D2X's ISO800 is extremely clean and full of details after NeatImage (using correct profile and settings). Never use Nikon's NR for ISO800, it kills details. I only use a little NR for ISO1600 during RAW conversion in Nikon Capture.

This is a ISO800 from D2X:

Hi Brian

Great series. Saturated and sharp. The girls will be proud.
Nothing done on saturation and as long as my target is in focus, it's sharp.
Hopefully the cheerleaders know where to find me ...

Great shots. I want that lens. How does it handle for you?

Did you have a press pass or were you just in the stands? If in the stands, I'm surprised that they let you in with that lens+camera combo? Many colleges keep all slr's out.

Have you tried this lens with any of the teleconverters?

It's a short and fat lens, rather hard to handhold without the hood (which I had to leave it home in order to get pass the gate). AF with the D2X is as fast as you can get.

No pass. I paid to get in but there were so few people that I could sit anywhere I wanted. I put the lens (without hood) and the camera in a backpack and walked in. Sometimes they check, sometimes they don't. For a game few people care, they usually don't check.

Yes, very good up to TC17:

Wow! Your shots at the TCU game are amazing for night football.

Would've been better if I had a better seat. Many of the pictures were heavily cropped after shooting in HSC mode.

Great images. Did you shot wide open all the time? This must be a
super lens for sports.
Thanks!

I shot wide open all the time under low light, sharpness is fine and the isolation effect looks good. I just need to be better in tracking my target for such a shallow DOF.
