UPS really pi**es me off!!!

Ordered items I need by this weekend from B&H but because UPS thinks they somehow deserve an extra day off Friday my package won't be delivered until monday the 28. 8 days after I ordered it. Ordered Sunday night. So much for 3 day delivery. Anything anybody knows that I can do?

what method did you select. I too ordered stuff sunday night. And in fact had to call them monday morning and make a correction. (I stupidly wasn't paying attention and ordered some 120 film, not 35mm (the evils of using search tools instead or working through the pages)), and my UPS order is still set to arrive weds.

I'm more worried about the status of my RRS order for a camera plate. I hate not getting a email about my order. I think the last one I ordered the notice arrived via email after I got the plate.

If it is still at B&H, you can call and argue with them to try and get them to upgrade it for free... or pay for it yourself. If it is in the UPS system, then I believe you are hosed. I had a situation a few months back where I had a graduation party at our house and had ordered a new burner for our grill (the old one was unusable). They sent the wrong part, and so I had to have a new one re-shipped for Saturday delivery in order to get it in time. Well it didn't get delivered on Saturday morning. I called UPS and even went to the local UPS location. They told me that the package was in one of the large shipping containers, and even though it was delivered on time, there was no way they could do anything until it showed up on a scan... which in my case would be on Monday morning. Once packages go into the "system" with any of the shipping companies, they are largely lost there until they show up in a scan. They don't keep track of the specific location when the packages are between scan points. I've always wondered what they would do if there were a bomb or something in there... I guess for that, they would rip everything apart and start looking for it.

I hope you're joking with that bit about UPS thinking they deserve the day off on Friday. Hard to tell in this form of communication.

I would hope that anyone ordering before any holiday would inquire about what the shippers days off are. Short of calling B & H and asking them to change shippers, I don't think there's anything you can do.

If you needed it fast, why would you order three-day select? You could have had it today.

Yeah, it's partly my fault I suppose. But, being in the military, holidays don't mean a lot to me. I get them off if they happen to be on one of my days off or else I work em. Friday isn't a holiday and I fully expect a company in a service business as important as UPS is in to be operating. Thanksgiving is just a one day holiday and shouldn't interrupt shipping like this. I don't see the need to take an extra day off and hose who knows how many thousands of customers like this. It was three day shipping. It's going to take 7 days. This is in no way acceptable. They will be delivering air packages that day though, why not the rest of them? My new son-in-law leaves the 28 for 6 months of sub duty and I wanted to get this stuff to take a nice picture of him and my daughter to take with. I'll still get a picture but now I'll have to jury rig some stuff for lighting. That's why I'm so mad.

Why not? I think UPS employees deserve a four day holiday before the marathon schedule they'll be facing until after the New Year.

They didn't really hose you, you hosed yourself, and as for the 'many thousands of customers', I've only heard of one. ;-)

I realize you're disappointed, but it's kind of selfish to blame UPS and act like they don't deserve what most other people get in the way of a Thanksgiving weekend.

Sorry but I'm in the military and have worked most Thanskgivings for the last 18 years. They won't get any pity from me. Plus, don't know how many Christmas, New Years, Easter, and any other holidays, including Veterans days that I have worked. Always been a shift worker. Don't think it's selfish to expect people to do the job they are paid for. I've worked for days straight, you won't come up with an argument to change my mind. Hey Mac, saw their schedule, but only after I got the email stating that it wouldn't be here till the 28th. Like I said, I'm dissapointed. If I had realized that they weren't delivering Friday I would have made different arrangements but had no reason to expect them not to since it isn't a holiday. It's just Friday. Anyways, you all don't have to reply to this. I just had to vent. I'll figure a different way to get the shot. Always more then one way to skin a cat. Thanks for taking the time to reply to the original post and listening to me vent!!!! Keep shooting.

its a ups union thingy i remember fedex working the day after thanksgiving fedex is not unionized but is more expensive .. you can get fedex option from b&h too

and the canon 20d was just coming out. You can imagine all the posts on this website about when they get it in their grubby little hands. People were complaining about UPS, fed-ex and anyone else they could think of.

It just so happened that at the same time there was a hurricane in FL. It screwed up shipping across the US like dominos.

Oh, and about 60 people were killed as well. Not that the people that ordered this camera really cared. They just acted as you are now. Sad really. No patience what so ever.

Making a statement about UPS not working a day or whatever is just unreasonable.

Not really but then I'm not the internet police trying to tell other people that their opinions or problems don't contain merit by trying to insult them either, am I?

This opportunity to take a nice picture using the proper equipment will be gone by Monday since my new son-in-law will be at sea for 6 months and then will be stationed elsewhere with my daughter and it would be prohibitive to try and travel with the lighting I ordered.

I was hoping someone may have had a similar problem and knew a way around it. Didn't need your worthless input. Actually had some useful answers from others on here. Let me know it was hopeless but at least they were answers. I haven't been on here insulting others. I looked at your other posts and saw where you had insulted a few others also. Get your kicks that way do you? Do everyone a favor and keep it to yourself. Lot of good people on here, don't count you as one of them.

I worked the day after Thanksgiving for many years until the company decided there were too many businesses closed and no pickups were made.
There are a lot of busniesses closed on that day, other than retail.
