I've been viewing this forum for some time and attempting some of the photoshop adjustments. I've also been trying to figure out how/where/etc. to post and edit photos. BUT I now have a problem, I've run out of time. My wife was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in June and it was indicated that she could live up to a year. Unfortunately she didn't make it and passed away day before yesterday. I'm very sorry for the short notice but I've been taking care of my wife at home for the last couple of months and have not had time to do much else. I think I finally got three photos posted on PBase and I'm asking assistance, from anyone willing to participate, to enhance these photos for her memorial service. The service will be December 3, 2006 and I'd love to use the resulting photos during the service. If some of you great folks out there could help me out, I'd be forever in your debt. Photos are posted at

I would like to be able to make, at least 11x14 prints and perhaps 16x20 prints or even poster size.

Again, I understand it's short notice but If any of you could work your magic, as I've seen, it would be a wonderful service.

I don't know what/how to do anything with resulting images so if someone could tell me this for downloading purposes, I'd appreciate it tremendously.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Hi Duke

So very sorry to hear of your sad loss - terrible.

I know that may here will offer sympathy and condolences and trust that it might provide some comfort in your time of grief.

Duke, I tried to open your page but my PC just hung.

I am on broadband but it was taking ages.

Have you put all 3 images on one page and are they very large?

Someone else may get them but I am struggling.

Perhaps you could just check.

Regards

Ray

First, very sorry for your loss. She looks like a lovely person. What would you like to be done to these photos to enhance them? improve color? crop? frame? eliminate background distractions? I was able to see all of them but am not sure what you think is needed.

Sue

I too would like to say how sorry I am to hear about your loss.

I am just reading posts today while I wait to see if anyone has an answer to a post of mine. I do not know how to offer you any assistance but just wanted to say that I clicked on your link and it loaded very quickly for me, although I only saw 2 images on the page.

Your wife was a very beautiful woman. I have said a prayer for you.

Duke,
Although I'm unable to help you with this, I can sympathise greatly.

I have a post here as well asking for help on an image, believe it or not, its for almost identical reasons as yours.
In my case a brother.

The photo I posted and require help with will form a DVD pan-zoom slideshow for his wife and others.
Hope you get the help you need.
Regards
Lee

I am very much the amatuer but I have worked a little bit on one of the photos. I don't know how to post it here (and would be embarrassed for the great talent here to see my amatuer attempt). Is there any way I can send it to you?

Hi Duke

Images now appearing.

As asked above - what would you like people to do with the shots please?

I am sure that whatever you want the people here will achieve for you.

Best wishes

Ray

My Condolences go out to you and your family. I am sure she will be missed but remember, she will always remain in the hearts of those she touched during her life.

Here are 3 different versions of one of your photos. I worked on this one because it is the only one that shows her face straight-on. I did not do the 'glamour' type of touchups like removing wrinkles etc but if this is what you wish, I can do a bit more. IMO, these are marks of living and we should embrace every part of it and celebrate the lines, not remove them.

If you want any of the three versions, just email me which and I can either email it to you or post it on my pbase site for you to save yourself or transfer it some other method. I can send you the Photoshop PSD if you want or just a large JPG.

Here are the 3 choices.

Sorry to hear your loss. Here is a quickie one I set to 11x14 but also leave room for cropping.

1. I used Soft-Clone to lighten the winkles a little but too keep the natural look. Winkles at the end of eyes usually mean happiness (from smilling) and friendship

2. Replace the background with the backdrop sample I just found on internet, and probably work good with her light hair color. I use Mask (the quick Mask button method).

3. I cloned her shirt to make it little longer to move her to central, don't know what was the end of her neckage, so I Duplicated (Ctrl+Alt Drag) the middle part.

That's about it and it took me around 4-5 minutes.

.... the T-shirt can be replaced too, but it's up to you.

That is beautiful work.

You have transformed the image so delicately.

May I ask what your workflow was please.

Thanks

Ray

Duke,

One of the toughest losses in life....my thoughts are with you. If you'd like this image in a larger size I can supply it larger. These images capture her with what I'm betting was a contageous smile.

Thanks Ray.

After retouching the image, I duplicated the layer and applied a lens blur, and added a soft edged mask to reveal the main part of the image. I then added layers filled with a soft light color, and masked those off as well. I continued to build up the light layers until I achieved the look I wanted. I guess it's a reverse vingette?

Although I cannot submit anything better than what is already here I just wanted to offer my condolences on your loss. May you find comfort in your many years of fond memories with such a beautiful lady.

I'm also very sorry for your loss.

I hope you don't mind that I put your wife on one of my favorite pictures I took on a cruise this summer and a recent sunrise.
