Thanks Richard. That is the info I am looking for. My daughter is
in art school and needs a computer for general use but now she is
taking a Photoshop+Illustrator course and will be using G4's at
school. I would like to get her a G4 for at her apt. but I can
get her a Windows based computer for a whole lot less. Probably a
good background in Windows+ Mac OS will be usefull to her in the
future. If she gets serious about doing computer graphics a Mac
will be the way to go.

More and more, cross-platform experience is becoming a big plus.
Exposing your daughter to both platforms now will give her a great
advantage over those who have only used Mac or PC.
By the time she gets out of school, neither platform is likely to
be the same as it is now. The most important thing to learn about
computers is how to teach yourself to adapt. That's why all these
administrators switching their schools from Macs to PCs crack me
up. They say that kids should learn the platform they will use when
they get into the work field. If that philosophy held any water,
I'd be using DOS right now, since that was what people in the
workplace were using when I was in school.
If she does decide to move into graphics, she'll most likely stick
with the Mac. But this way, she'll make an informed choice -
something most people never get the opportunity to do.
