I don't mean to brag (but of course, I will). I've had a Coolpix 775 for about a month, and took it on vacation to the Rocky Mountains in early September. It's the first digital camera I've ever used.

I submitted on of my pics to Megapixel.net's monthly contest, and I got an honorable mention! The photo is of a double rainbow coming down into a field, where about 20 elk were grazing. I was watching the elk when the rainbows appeared. It was raining, so I just stuck the camera out the window and took a few shots. This is that's perfect for a digital camera, because I could take 10 shots to get a good one, and delete the rest.

I don't pretend to be much of a photographer, but I think a digital camera made me a better amateur, at least.

Don't let my comments inflate your ego but you obviously have the "eye" as one might say. Visual and mental awareness are far more important than the camera being used. There is a gentleman in Japan that uses nothing but the cheapest of cheap digicams (who knows why?) whose photos are considered second to none.
