1.4 TC or 2.0 TC on a Canon 24-70mm F2.8

Hi,

I like the 24-70mm F2.8 a lot but I found the zoom range not so useful on a 20D.

For wider: I was looking at Tokina 12-24mm F4

For zoom: I was wondering if it is worth to put a teleconvertor on a Canon 24-70mm F2.8 or to get a 70-200 L F4.0?

Any suggestions?

P.S.: I know the Canon teleconverters are not compatible with my lens.

You can't put canon TC on 24-70, it's not compatible. It won't fit

Get the 70-200. A TC is no substitute.

Third-party converters can be coupled with the 24-70, but a 2x would degrade the image too much (and make it a slow f5.6), and 1.4x translates to just 98mm - less than half of the 200mm.
