Hi folks!

For quite a long time now, I'm looking for a comfortable and easy to attach and release neck strap for my 20D (and hopefully 1D IIN soon).

I know there are millions of camera neck straps with quick-release buckles. But I'm looking for a solution, that does not have the stubby ends to deal with. I also use the Canon hand strap E-1, wich has got an "adaptor" to use a neck strap at the same time. Usually the hand strap is perfect for me, but from time to time it would be nice, to fit a neck strap.

Does anybody know a good solution?
Thanks!!

I like them a lot...nice wide strap, soft & cushy so there's no pinch points and the buckles are easy to operate.

Thanks for your answers so far. But as far as I know, the Op/Tech straps exactly have, what I didn't asked for. They all have these silly ends that remain at the camera. :-(

The Op/tech seem to be very popular in the USA. I don't know, if they are available here in Germany, but there are many other things like the Op/Tech around. Lowepro, Tamrac, Hama, and dozen others. But none of them has the ability to be fixed DIRECTLY to the camera.

Sounds a bit hokey but it works well.....

Get a couple of small stiff/strong keyrings and fit one onto each mounting point.

Then you can thread the top handstrap end through the ring instead of the strap attachment point directly.

Now....

Get two small karabiners (or those clips that come on the end of dog leashes) and fit one to each end of the neckstrap.

Presto... it can now be clipped directly onto the two rings, with the handstrap still attached and only leaving two small rings on the camera when not needed.

Thanks Matt!

This comes close to my last tinkering attempts. :-) But there are some little disadvantages in this solution: The rings at the camera tend to scratch the body and to tinkle. This is about as nerve wracking, as the stubby ends of usual click-on neck straps.

I'm currently trying to find adequate karabiners, that can be fastened directly to the cameras mounting points.

I think an ideal solution would be, if the manufacturer would integrate a lock right into the body, and fit the counterpart to their own neck straps. In case that somebody wants to use another neck strap, he can remove the "key" an fit it onto the desired one.

Wishful thinking, I know.

I agree completely

I have seen some clips that looked ideal -they were made of folded flat steel and were about 1/2" wide. They would have simply clipped into the mounts with no twisting. They were on the ends of some military webbing gear

Now I can't find them or anything similar. Doh.

Right! That's exactly what I'm looking for. If you find them again, pleeeeeeease let me know.

I've got a lot of small "karabiners" here on dozens of lanyards. Even metal ones. But I wouldn't commit one of them the weight of my camera. And they are also to narrow and would slip back and forth in the mounting points.

Yes! Thanks a lot.

This is at least a good starting point to look for these things in the internet or in the next hardware store. If I find anything that meets our demands, I'll let you know. :-)
