RAW & Epson P2000

The one that I tried last week wouldn't. I was told though by the clerk that the new firware would allow you to do so. I'm not sure of he just wanted me to by the viewer or he was ctually giving me the facts. In the process of finding this out, I found out that Epson is releasing a newer version with 80 gig instead of 40 gigs that P2000 comes with. The price of the new one is going to be around $600.00 To me this meant that soon the P2000 will come down in price, so I stopped my search as an 80 Gig would serve me better anyway.
Kind regards.

I have the flashtrax XT 40 GB, which works great with the S3.

It displays the embedded jpeg (1440x960?) of the RAF files, which has a lower resolution then if you shoot in jpeg, but the nice thing is that you actually can see the picture.

Jan, thanks for the reply, I am leaning towards the Flashtrax for the viewing feature, I curently use Roadstor for CD burning as a backup, but I want to actually see that the files are there, at times I have burnt a CD only to find that all images have an error.

Hello Dennis,

How did it go with your research, which one did you buy or considering to buy. I'm ready to purchase one as well, could use your results.
Thank you.

Hi Cyrus,

My first choice would have been Epson2000, but it does not allow you to view Fuji RAW files, and no firmware will ever update it to do so (according to Epson). Looked at almost every other PSD and found that Flashtrax is the only viewer that will show Fuji Raw files, however they are only thumbnails with poor clarity, but still good for confirmation. I've only had it for a few days now, so I haven't had the oppurtunity to try all the functions but I copied a 1gig card full of raw files in 8 minutes, a 256meg card full of JPEGs in under 1 minute, doing a slide show is fast & easy. Have yet to record music and video or play back on TV monitor or other display. Nikon jpeg and RAW files look great, nice resolution and zoom. I paid $399.99 at Unique Photo, and got a $30.00 mail in rebate, this is for the newer XT 40gig model. Good luck with your decision, I know you won't be disappointed with the Flashtrax and all the extra features that the others don't seem to have.

Hello Dennis,

Thank yo for the feedback. I was impressed by the Epson P2000 display, very nice and clear. I've never seen Flashtrax upclose but I would figure it should be close to Epson, if not the same or better.
Thank you again,
Best regards.

I think.. IMHO and stuff..

That to view your shots on a tiny screen is overrated altho the Epson does have a awesome screen it won't work with the Fuji files so forgetaboutit (all one word) :-~

This site has all of 'em

http://www.photozone.de/2Equipment/portableHD.htm

to bad it doesn't say wether it works with the Fuji or not .. you might have to dig a little deeper to find that out....

I have a laptop so I just use that but if I were to use one of these I'd go for speed...! and ease and compactness...
