Actually, I just put my name on a waiting list for when it's available. The sales manager of Adorama, Martino Corto, has started a waiting list for the d200, just in case Nikon announces such a camera.

No credit card was necessary. It just means I'll be eligable to buy a d200 if and when one is available. Hopefully, I'm first on the list.

... Uncle Frank - you took your time when ordering the D70. I
detect no such hesitation in putting your name up for this one :-)
I've had great experiences with Nikon since I bought the d70, David. I'm confident that this is a well thought out piece of gear, and that they'll right any wrongs quickly. Basically, I'm going to pay to be a beta tester -lol!
Have you seen the PDFs? Very beautiful images found within them!
I sure have, and I'm in love ;-).

Glad to hear, Uncle Frank!

So did I a few hours ago... only a nasty price surprise can stop me now.

I'm going for the 18-200VR as well - looks like a perfect (?) modest travel lens.

And I just ordered a Ferarri! Seriously, I put my name on a list and no credit card was needed. Now I just have to ACTUALLY BUY IT.

You need to get a grip.

Yeah, I agree with Greg. You need to pre-order the vertical grip too. ;-)

UF

I am going to wait 2 months or so. Wife has granted permission already ;). But I am thinking of getting the 4 year nikon international extended warranty as well.

Please think about it. I don't see me needing another camera for another 4 years after this.

Congrats Uncle Frank.. it is awesome to hear that you are going for this seemingly capable camera. It deserves to be in good and capable hands.

While the D70 forum will have a lot of deserters, its only because some of the masters like you will be here sharing beautiful images, tutorials and experiences with a shiny new camera.

I certainly cannot wait to see your works with D200. I am sure your results will influence a lot of us D70-ers to jump in.

btw, i plan to ask you about some egret shooting advises as I am plannin a "more serious" trip down to Bosque Del Apache NWR in NM.

congrats!

You're much too kind, Devendra! I'm no guru, just a pilgrim. The experts are folks like Reznick, Hogan, Yves, etc. At best, people looking at my pics may get a sense of what an average Joe can expect from a d200. But thanks for making me blush :-).
