I just got the same deal ($679). At first I was told that it would only be $10 dollars off with my first purchase. Then the manager came over and said that there would be an additional 10% discount when my bill arrived.

I plan to call Sears customer service and try to get the extra 10%. It's worked for some people here.

Shabrab munkeyplink

My price was $659 (don't ask), and should be in next week. I'm getting
the one with platinum inlays cause I'm special. Real German lens!
Uh hun.....Back to bed Rudy.

My salesperson said the same thing, that my Statement would show the additional 10% Off. But when I called the Sears Card Cust. Serv. they said that the computer made an error, for not instanly appling that extra 10% discount at the time of purchase. I think because the computer can only do one Discount at a time.
Who Knows Why.

But I suggest you call them and make sure you got it or if you can read both discounts off your receipt you are set.

May I ask? I've been reading this forum for a while. As I understand it:
1. You get price match for edigitalblablabla $849
2. Then you get 10% off (if you get Sears card) $761

But how to get $679?

Thanks.

Well you see You get the pricematch then You Apply for the Sears Card and you get 10% off your first purchase, Then you get the 10% Promotional Sale Discount with your new Sears card that is going on this week. They were unable to do the second 10% off at the store according to a computer Error. I called their Credit Card Service Center and they said they could add it on after taxes for a total of $733.24. I am definately not going to gripe about the $10.00 Difference.
I hope this helped
Thanks:)

I've now read several posts claiming that Sears is offering 10% off everything in the store, plus an additional 10% for opening/using a Sears credit card, yielding 20% off the price match deal of $849.99, for a final price of roughly $680. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE, and I would invite anyone who claims they received such a deal to post a receipt for it.

Here's the real story, based on a few visits to my local (and large) Sears store in recent days:

1) Yes, most (though not all) Sears stores will price match at $849.99. Per the Sears price-matching policy, they're supposed to add any applicable shipping charges on top of the price match (since some stores low-ball the product, then make it up on high shipping charges), but that may or may not happen, depending entirely on the Sears sales clerk you're dealing with. In my case, the clerk didn't bother adding the $26 dollar shipping charge, even though it was on my printout from emegastore. Given the "help" in many retail stores these days, I'm sure many sales clerks don't know the specifics of various store policies.

2) Sears is running a "10% Off Everything When You Use Your Sears Card" special from 9/23 to 9/29. Restrictions apply. There is a question as to whether you're "supposed" to get the added 10% off on a price match or not, and there doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule -- again, I think it's a matter of how knowledgeable the sales clerk is that's helping you. The less knowledgeable and experienced the clerk is, the more likely that you'll get the added 10% with no trouble. In my case, I pre-ordered the camera this past Sunday using my Amex card, then became aware of the credit card discount via this forum. So I went back last night, opened a Sears credit card, voided my Amex sale, repurchased with the Sears card, and got the added 10% off on top of the price match.

3) If you're opening a new account (as I was) you get an extra $10 (NOT 10%!) off your first purchase, OR you get three months at zero interest. This is plastered on signs throughout the store, and on the Sears web site.

I hope this clarifies the Sears deal for those thinking about a purchase--remember that the "10% Off With Your Sears Card" deal runs through this Saturday only.

I can't find anyone at Sears or anywhere on Sears website that shows this 2nd 10% discount you guys are calling the "promotional Sale Discount" going on this week.

Can you clue me in please.

Thanks a bunch,

Robin

I think you're correct. You can get 10% off for applying for a card, but you do not get an additional 10% for using the new card.

There was also a 10% off all purchases (regardless of the card you used) but they would not piggyback the discounts. I still don;t see how this happened.

I talked to Sears Credit and they catagorically denied giving the two 10% discounts.

Just called Sears again. That's exactly what I was told. Pricematch, plus 10% discount, plus $10 off. That's it.

I'm very receptive to another 10% off, if someone can tell me how to get it.

Sale Discount" going on this week.
Exactly. And that's because it doesn't exist. Once again, the promotion is very simple, and plastered on signs throughout the store, and the Sears website: "10% Off Everything When You Use Your Sears Card." I want to stress that it has NOTHING to do with opening a Sears account--you simply charge a purchase to any Sears card and you get the 10%. End of story. I opened a Sears charge simply because I didn't have one, which entitles me to an added $10 discount, or three months with no interest. (By the way: You can apply for a Sears charge right at the cash register--they take your drivers license #, and your Social Security #, and run a "Rapid Credit Check" that gives you instant approval and a credit line, providing, of course, that your credit rating is in decent shape. )

The important thing to remember is that the "10% Off with your Sears Charge" deal ends on Saturday.

I guess you can read this two ways. 10% off going on now and 10% for a new card = 20%. Or apply now and get 10% until Saturday. Note the word "also" I can read this and think I should get a total of 20%.

Snip from Sears.com

"To be eligible for 10% discount when applying for a Sears card, at the payment information screen, select 'Apply Now' and complete the application process. If you're approved, you'll save 10% on your purchase also! Order must also be shipped to same address on credit application. All applicants subject to credit approval. Discount will be reflected once order has been placed, on both Order Confirmation and Order Status screens. Offer valid 9/23-9/29 only."

Second discount is vapor, or at least is at my local Sears. My salesman, however, based the "price comparison" on the web site's item price only, not including shipping. And he did honor the price from edigitalmegastore.com, unlike stated elsewhere in this thread.

Walked out for pennies over $800 including repressive state tax, and got a firm delivery date of 10/9. My thanks to those who surfaced this fantastic deal!!

Well, you COULD read it that way, but you would be incorrect (which is why no one is getting this supposed deal.) And by pulling the snip that you did from their website (without the rest of the language that came before it) you've really skewed its meaning. Look: anyone with a Sears card gets 10% off everything if they use it through this Saturday. No Sears card, no 10% off. So: what about all those folks without a Sears card? Well, in the normal time it takes to process a credit card application, this deal would be over by the time you were approved. The "also" here doesn't refer to an additional 10%... it simply means that you'll get a 10% discount, "also," like all those other folks who already have Sears charge cards. Get it?

Ok, I called 3 local Searses, two of them refused to deal with eDigitalMegastore.com and the third one said that they don't apply any of their discounts (even with a sears card) on the matched price, so it will be $849 + $32(shipping) + sales tax.

The approval for the credit card is instant. The clerk puts the info in the puter and on your receipt at the bottom read "TEMPORARY SHOPPING PASS" which is good only that day. The 10% through 9/29 is nation wide. To receive a 10% for opening the account is up to each store's manager. I had to talk to the store manager in order to get the 10+10.

I forgot to add that my 10+10 was deducted at the store. Also price matching has nothing to do with discounts. As far as internet prices their price match policy for internet does not list which sites, it includes all.

Well, like I said at the outset of all this: when someone posts a JPEG of their Sears receipt showing this deal, I'll believe it. As anyone who has actually called Sears Credit knows, it's 10% and that's it. And it's ludicrous to think that a worldwide chain would let individual store managers determine the discount for opening a charge account on a case by case basis. (And WHAT would be the motivation to give an added discount here?! They've already discounted the item 25% via price matching and the nationwide promotion.)

JPEG anyone?
