I was looking at the 2100 today in my local Circuit City, and noticed something that I found kind of quirky. It seems that I could frame a photo in either the LCD OR the viewfinder, but I could not turn on both at the same time, as I thought I could on the C-700 and others. Am I right or did I miss something? Thanks!

You are correct - only one of the two may be active at a time.

Yup, there is nothing wrong with it. Actually the same happens
with my Sony digital cameras too.

I think it is done this way so as to conserve battery power
and also the fact that it is relatively difficult to look through
both the LCD and the viewfinder at the same time. ;) At
least I couldn't.

I don't think there are any cameras that use an efv that can have bioth active simultaneously

Al:

Did you lok at some past posts on Circuit City and the deal that give on the 2100UZ in fact they claim they are discontinued. Check their close out prices on the Internet. Seems CompUSA had something similar but doublecheck Circuit City. Great camera....

Not at all difficult for me, Edwin. I use my right eye for the LCD and the eye in the center of my forhead lines up perfectly with the EVF.
Oh-oh. I'm not supposed to tell earth people about that. Forget it.

Actually mike, the C700 is able to have both the LCB and EVF on at the same time. This comes in very handy, especially when you suddenly get in bright sunlight and have problems seeing the LCD, Shazam!, just look through the EVF and continue your shot. No fuss, no muss, no buttons to change or push. Works great!
Good luck – Dave Greene

Hi Al - Bill's right about CompUSA, I bought mine there for $329. It was the killer deal but alas no more. Sorry.
Good luck - Dave Greene

Your right, pushing a single button may be too difficult for a lot of people. But then, the probably change batteries more often. I wonder if they can even do that without touching the camera.

Can the C700 view recorded images in the EVF like the 2100 is able to do?

The E-10 allows that too.

Hi John - Yes the C700 will let you review recorded images just like the C2100, including zooming and multiples. As far as batteries go, the 700 & the 2100 are the same (at least mine are) when it comes to use.
Hope this helps - Dave Greene

Why would you want them both on? I try to NOT use the LCD because it is so draining.

The one I saw at CC was a display model with all the accessories except the lens cap and AV cable-no box, but they cut out and saved th UPC code. They wanted $469.00 and wouldn't budge from that number, so it was a no-go. I don't think you'll find any new ones at CC.

Yeah, I think $469 for the camera without box is not a good deal, I am going to order today on dbuys.com or ibuydigital.com
