Hi

I am new to Fuji. I am looking into buying myself the S5200 and I have some qeustions. Can anynody tell be what their personal experience about this camera is. Another qeustions is it possible to attache a UV-filter or polerizer to the S5200.

Thanx

S5000 thru S5200 have a 55 mm threaded end to the lens hood to attached filters, teleconverters and such. I believe the S5200 has the lens hood permanently attached. I leave mine on my S5100 all the time to protect the lens mechanism, (plus it looks way cooler).

No, the S5200 does not come with a lens hood but you can purchase a 55mm hood at any camera outlet. Filters fit the same 55mm thread. I'm not sure on this, but it's my understanding that polarizers for 35mm cameras don't always work with digital camers because of the chip. You'll have to ask your camera professional for help there.

I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to anything other than P&S cameras, but I really like my s5200. I've had it for a few weeks, and it's doing me just fine!

One of the things I wanted was fast power-on and fast shot-to-shot times. I feel that it's pretty darn fast. My previous camera was an Fuji F700 (which was also very fast), and the s5200 appears to be just as fast if not faster that the F700. That's just "gut feeling" though, I don't have my f700 to do a direct comparison.

Something else I wanted was to break out of the "Auto" mode that I was in with my F700. The s5200 has a good Auto mode that my wife and I can use to get simple shots of the kids and events, but it also has all the manual settings I'll ever need to play with/learn.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the s5200, but remember I'm coming from a P&S camera and don't have much experience with anything else than "Auto" mode.

As far as the filter stuff:
I purchased a 55mm UV filter for mine and it fit like a glove.
