580 with 5D

Hey Melanie, our cats are very similar. Mine has a bit more white on his chest, but other then that, from what I can tell from your pics is that they have the same personality as well :-)

Is he / she a Maine Coon? I'm not sure about my cat (Kasey) since we found him in the bush.

Yeah, his idea of a treat is to play with a certain toy, lately, it has been a rubber fish pencil eraser attached to a pen (so he can catch it and bite it). That or a laser pointer.

For you. These are RAW saved as tiffs. I shot aRGB, so these have
been converted to sRGB for web and saved as jpeg. No other post
work done.
Hope thiese samples ( warning LARGE ) are helpful

Something doesnt look quite right to me - I am a bit of a pixel peeper I guess, but as you mentioned there is that odd look around the whiskers.

Initially I thought that they had been re-sized up, because there is a lack of definition on the hair - have you tried shooting in jpeg for a comparison?

Anyway thanks for the samples, and keep'em coming :-)

You're absolutely correct. I have learned (the hard way ) that these files are MUCH different than the 1D MKII files I am so used to processing.
See this response in this thread and tell me what you think

These weren't rez'd up ( unlike my first batch of RAW files... they were and I thank you for bringing it to my attention ). Had an incorrect setting in my new CS2 ACR. That's fixed now.....

You have a lovely gallery.
Thank you!
Have you sold any images via your website?
Several dozen.
And are you an amature?
I make my living as a Registered Nurse. So I am not a true "Pro", though I do make some money with photography. The profits either are used for better equipment or things like family vacations. I would say I am a very serious semi'pro at the most. Lack of a business background keeps things small.

I wouldn't trade this golden cat for anything. He was one of 17 kittens available for adoption at a local Vet's office. When I entered the room, this one simply insisted in no uncertain terms that I was to hold him. He won my heart.

I don't think so. Just a long haired mixed cat. The hair is as soft as a rabbit's fur coat.

Mine likes any toy that belongs to my 6 year old son. I think he may be a little boy trapped in a cat's body! ;-)

please tell me you took a ton of shots to get those.

The 85L is a blast and wonderful. You make that 5D look mighty good. I'm thinking you're really enjoying it.

I took 11 in about 5 minutes. That's all the kitty had time to spare for such nonsense. :-)

Yes it is. One of my favorite lenses!

Yes. I am having fun with it and testing things out. Gotta get my workflow figured out for it.

Am sorry for digging deep. I was just curious to know how you advertised. Have you submitted to stock agencies. Or was the sales only via your website?

Thank you very much

Am sorry for digging deep.
Not a problem.

I was just curious to know how you
advertised.
I sell photo note cards that have my website on the back. A few local stores carry them. I also have business cards like this one ( but with other contact info such as my phone #)

That I give out when people approach me in public about photos.
I also put stuff like this up

in local music supply stores.

Then there's " word - of - mouth " ... friends telling friends. Honestly, I don't have time for it to be a "big" thing.

Have you submitted to stock agencies.

No. However some publishers have found my work online using search engines. Some of my pages have metadata I inlcuded to help the search engines find specific photos or sets of photos. I need to seriously update my pages with this metadata.

Or was the sales
only via your website?
Most of my sales are not directly connected to my site. Word of mouth in the local community drives more work for me than anything.
Thank you very much
