Moon Shots-Post here

If any body has any moon shots, please feel free to post them here
and with exif preferably. :)
Beautiful!

I'm generally too sleepy to get the tripod out at night.

I don't have any with such detail. So, of course, I resort to 'moody'. ;-)

I call this one Dark Mood of the Moon

This is actually a daylight shot, with quite a bit of Photoshop tweaking.

The EZI was chosen because the black finish blended well with the
night. When doing covert work in dark, I like to run in stealth
mode. ROFLMAO
ROTFL... How could I have not've thought of that.... Makes all the sense in the world & should've been obvious...
Seriously... I just grabbed the most convenient one when I finally
realized that there were breaks in the cloud cover. And, to be
honest IMO, The EZi is just a few Mpxls shy ( while using the same
lens ) of the UZI and one would be hard pressed to tell which
camera took which photo in most situations.
Here is a shot ( no P S-ing ) taken with the EZI also in P mode
under grey overcast skies that help show the built in capabilities
of the 1½ Mpxl wonder. Also, I have read somewhere that if the same
size sensor is used with less Mpxls trying to populate it, the
image would not suffer as much. This was written ( if I recall
correctly ) during a discussion on how 1 Mpxl shots from the moon
were so amazing. Of course we are talking about a much more
expensive rig.

Oh yer prechin' to the choir... But being of the same ilk as you... The Uzi vs Ezi aspect always elicits me to ask.... "Why that one?" anyway ;-}

HI David,

Your shots are great. Handheld too, eh? Very nice and sharp with the good details…

I took those back in July, while experimenting with the new lenses.

If a link to somewhere is easier I'll settle for that cause I know what you mean about about being discombobulated. You may be a little more than me though. LOL

These look a lot better than, A lot better than the ones I shot with 8080. Wish I had the Uzi then. Guess well have to wait for the next one. Course if you are up at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow moring you might catch a partial eclipse. So I read anyway.

David
Yes it was taken Oct. 27, 2004. I have such a discombobulated mess
with photos scattered between 4 computers and those burned to CD, I
will have to search for the originals. I was doubtful that i would
even get an opportunity to shoot the Eclipse as it was really
cloudy. These were taken through wispy clouds and probably account
for the different hues. Since the conditions and the trek across
the sky was constantly changing, I just put it in P, used spot
focus, and let Olympus figure out what settings to use.
When I locate the originals ( gotta organize this mess! ), I will
zip and forward them to you.

That would be interesting to try. I'll have to think about that one.

Thanks,
David

Well, good luck. We have cloud cover now but I hope it clears later. Good luck to you!

David
thanks ..
i tried a few different settings .. and that one seemed to be the
best setting .. and i didnt do anything as far as sharpening or
anything in PS .. i just resized it .. I also tried a shot in sepia
tone but that was on a diff setting .. i like sepia on this camera
.. the tones really come out nice .. gonna have to try the B&W and
sepia tonight ..
thanks again ..

see ya under the moon ..

So Vadts Der To Shoot :)

I guess it's not the amount of pixels as it is the quality of the
glass. Now if I only had a telescope I could get one like Ross or
Nick.
On that point, some enlightening lunar shots were done by Greylady
on this forum, a year or so ago. You may be able to trawl them up.
She used a 5050, I think, shooting through binoculars. This was a
revelation. The astro-freaks used to turn up their noses at afocal
projection but the world has changed. Her shots were great and the
first afocal projection shots I had ever seen.
I seem to recall that now that you mention it. Maybe if she's looking in she could refresh our memories. :)
It was then that I realised that the TCON attachments were nothing
more than low power, very low power, Galilean telescopes.
Yep, we all keep learning.

David
We all learn.

Beacon, Now that is a moody shot. Almost the darside of the moon! LOL

I find it real interesting to look at the depressions. They look seriously deep in this picture.

Thanks for posting and the comments on the shots!

Took this last June 3rd just after midnight during our Western Tour. Haven't really gotten any good moon shots since.

Beautiful B&W moon, David! Nice!

is considered Sage advice. ( usually ?) 8~p

And I was in a quandary as to why I was coming up shy of the whole thing! You have solved my problem. It'll never happen again, I'm now on the way to the trash can with the "Black Beast". LOL
Thanks

Hey fishbanjo,

I can't wait to see some shots through your new scope. I bet it's real nice. How are you connecting the camera to the scope?

And, Is this one of the scopes that is programmed to find objects in the sky?

Thanks for the moon shot and the info your new toy!
David

Here's a link that you can plug in your location and it will give you times for sun and moon rise/set. I have this one bookmarked.
http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html

The clouds cleared away and I was able to get another shot tonight. The moon is 99% full tonight. Anyone else get it tonight. Post away! And thanks to all have contributed so far.
