Ceiva digital picture frame

Check out how the "receiver" works -- looks like you have to subscribe to an internet service to get the pics in there.

Or maybe it's like my Kodak one, which is kind of cool, you can load the pix from a cf card.

It lookss like a simple interface to a phone line which she has and the monthly charge seems reasonable. I live several states away so it would be very convenient for myself and other family members.

I have purchased two Ceiva receivers for my mother. She is completely computer illiterate and doesn't want anything to do with a computer. The picture frame works great for her. It just plugs into the phone line and calls somewhere around 2:00 AM to download new pictures. The newest one has better contrast than the older ceiva but it is not comparable to a LCD screen on a laptop. The resolution on the ceiva is only 640x480. My mother's biggest complaint is that if it goes a while without new pictures being added, she complains to me! I then have to get after my sisters and the rest of the family to start adding pictures.

One complaint I have about Ceiva is that with both receivers I have purchased, I have sent in the rebate but was turned down both times with little explanation. I followed their directions precisely the second time and had someone else review the requirements, but still was turned down for the rebate. I had purchased the receivers directly from Ceiva. They don't send a receipt, only an email and I think the problem they stated was that no original receipt was included!!!

I appreciate the hands on feedback. Everyone in the family has a digital cam and my mom will really enjoy this. As to the rebate I'll try to stay optimistic.
