P850 flash indicator blinking too long

I hate to be a pain with yet another question, but I haven't been able to get a satisfactory answer to this through Kodak's telephone tech support. I seem to be having a problem with the built-in flash and/or the flash indicator itself. With a fully charged battery, after I take a few flash photos, the flash indicator starts blinking - and continues blinking - until I turn the camera off and then turn it back on again. My first call to tech support said it could mean that I need to change the flash mode. So, even though I had the flash mode in Auto, I tried changing to other flash modes, but the blinking continued. I don't actually know how long the blinking would continue if I don't turn the camera off, because after 10 minutes, I figured that something must be wrong. Can someone please help? Thanks!

I decided to return the P850 and use my 7590. Not just the blinking thing, although I have to admit that after speaking with 3 different Kodak tech support people on the phone and receiving 3 different non-answers.. suffice it to say, it didn't help matters. I'm sure the P850 is a fine camera, but after much experimenting, I came to the conclusion that I take better photos with the 7590. That's not to say that I think it's a better camera, just that it seems to be better suited to someone who has as little patience as I do for fiddling with camera settings. At any rate, I'm glad I found the nice people here on this forum, and I hope to participate with my 7590 ;-)

I think you made a good choice in returning the camera. You definately had something wrong. I have had mine since 9/23 and have never experienced this problem. i have taken many flash pictures. The recycle time is generally very quick unless my batter is getting low. Don't give up on the camera, it is really great. Try a replacement.

It did sound like your P850 had a problem.

The DX7590 and Z7590 are really nice cameras. (Not sure which one you have.) Did it seem to you like the P850 was an upgrade to the 7590 model? After trying the P850 at Best buy, I came to the same conclusion as you and am sticking with my DX7590 also.

Whichever camera you use, stick around the Kodak Forum.

Hi Gail. Elvis has not left the building, so you may not either. I do not think you will be disappointed in sticking with the DX7590. There are a lot of us here who dearly love ours'.

SheltieDog, I have the DX7590. Yes, the P850 seemed like an upgrade, so it could be that my basic point-and-shoot disposition isn't quite ready for an upgrade yet. The one and only reason I wanted to try the P850 was for the IS, which seemed OK, but honestly not as much improvement over the DX7590 as I'd expected. Again, it could be all due to the user, and not the camera itself, for example Diane, your pics with the P850 are wonderful.
George, so it really was Elvis that I saw down the hall...;-0!

I have a couple of forum questions. How do you prefer the replies? All in one as I did this one, or separate reply for each comment?

The other question is: are the photos posted here supposed to be totally un-post-processed other than resizing (and maybe sharpening to compensate for the resizing?). I don't mean artsy manips, but just minor histogram, color balance, etc. type fixes that are done with image editing apps?

Thanks again,

Thank you for your comments about the P850 upgrade. Image Stabilization was the main reason that I too was looking at the P850. Maybe if I didn't already have the DX7590, I might have purchased that camera. But since I already have the DX7590 and like it, I will stick with that camera!
