I believe the old plastic mount 35-70mm lens which came as the standard consumer zoom lens with my old 500SI to be a bit of a gem.

With a useful crop equivalent of lets say 53-105mm, you may be surprised at the quality of the lens. Check out this shot , I took this evening, hand-held 1/20sec at f4.5, at ISO100. Considering the shallow depth of field at f4.5, the lens produces a nice image.

Get this old baby out and give it a try, you might be surprised.

Oops youre right, I forgot to add the 7D to my preferences. But I can assure you it was taken with the 7D. But well spotted sir.

Yes, this lens is very good and is the one I always enjoy. I was actually trying to get a 2nd one before they disappear on store shelves but was too late.

Interesting. I just got one with a Maxxum 3xi camera and cherry 70-210 F4 off ebay for $100. I was going to sell it and the camera cheap, but may keep it. I'll take it out tommorrow and see what's up.
