Photo: an Afghani boy

there are alot of WTC scenes that are too horrific to show. rescuers are reluctant to even discuss what they have seen. reported a few days ago was the finding of a pair of hands bound with cord found on top of an adjacent building. and many in afghanistan (not all mind you, not even the majority) and other nations harboring terrorists think this is ok, even justified. even more are willing to defend the governments that support these actions through funding, armament and refuge. this is the problem: thousands of innocent children are taught western civilization is evil outright. these children will see any transgression of the west (even to pursue known terrorists) as an unforgiveable act, and will pick up arms to replace those killed. the cycle will be VERY difficult to break. the question i pose when i see this photo is: what has this child been taught? did he start with reading? on to math? or that bin Laden is righteous and that western civilization has killed all your relatives and will kill you and your siblings if you don't kill many americans?
I think people have seen a lot of WTC photos already and the
tragedy has became a part of history that can not be reversed.

While people are talking about bombing Afghanistan, i think people
should put a face on Afghani. They are human as everyone here.

Yue

I dont know which nationatlity are you but the message you are portraying here is utterly disgusting, and I Bet you are a dirty arab trying to hurt our feelings by reminding us that people are dying all over the world every day. But mind you if those people are not Americans then they can go to HE*L, please post pics of the victims of the WTC only or DONT POST AT ALL, all other people dying around the rest of the world are a piece of SH*T, they can go FU*K themselves.

and Yue I WARN YOU dont ever mention anything like the lines below, otherwise I will personally trun you to the FBI:::::::::::

'Dennis Halliday, the former UN Secretary General and Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq says, "We, (the US), are in the process of destroying an entire society. It is as simple and terrifying as that. It is illegal and immoral." Halliday made this statement in 1998 in an interview with the Independent. Halliday was so distraught with the absurdity of sanctions and their justification, along with their consequences and apparent perpetuity, that he made this statement, "Sanctions are starving to death 6,000 Iraqi infants each month... I no longer want to be a part of that." Based on these facts and feelings Halliday stepped down as Assistant Secretary General and joined the effort to lift sanctions. The fact that he is a well known and respected international diplomat doesnt mean anything, Because he was probably bribed by some filthy muslim government'

and dont ever mention anything about the effects of URANIUM-TIPPED BULLETS and their effect on Iraqi children, because you have to remeber that it is the iraqi CHILDREN who are to blame because the CHILDREN havent overthrown Sadam up till now, that is why they must DIE, or serve as EXPERIMENTAL ANIMALS to try out our new weapons, but who the hell cares; they are not americans, they are arab dogs, and Above all this might be a pure lie because our kind hearted government couldnt kill a bee even if it stung her.

http://csf.colorado.edu/mail/pen-l/dec98/0662.html

and dont you ever claim that the number of Iraqi children dying from the sanctions each month equals to the number of WTC bombIngs ( 4500/ month for more than 10 years now), claiming that more than 1.6 million child died is largely exaggerated, they are just a few hundred thousands, not a million and a half, you are twisting the facts now you LIAR, actually not a sigle Iraqi child died because of us, the fact of the matter is that Sadam personally strangles 30 children every night in his castle to USE them as a publicity stunt against the helpless governement of the united states.

http://maic.iraqimusic.com/

Yue, It is the Iraqi tyrant who is refusing the oil for food program, and is therefore directly responsible for the children deaths, and dont tell us that the UN has started the oil for food program ONLY in 1996 and that in the preceding five years hundreds of thousands died, well NOBODY told us children were dying bak then and again the iraqi government is responsible because they didnt warn us,

and dont send us this link about the testimony of some honest congressmen and remeber that politicians can bE LIARS TOO

I for one am confused by why this posting made you so angry - can
you explain? Is it that this photograph seems to be of an
impoverished human being?

Shaun
This posting didn't make much sense to me either. Right now Afghanistan is a total hell hole and what it needs is a decent government and before that (really a luxury for later) what its people need is to no longer fear death through war starvation or disease. Most of Afghanistan's problems stem from its instability caused by years of war - more bombing and missile attacks won't improve things - and I haven't a clue what targets are left in it anyway.

Stability improves people's lot - in Iran everything might not be ideal yet, but things are nonetheless improving and reforming popular poiticians with true democratic mandate are slowly gaining ground. Goodness knows how far Afghanistan is from that situation ,however further destruction of what feeble infrastructure it has left won't help, and moreover it won't do Bin Laden the slightest bit of harm - he's reputedly a multi millionaire the ordinary man in the ordinary Kabul street isn't - he's destitute and actually quite likes the USA for its key role in helping rid the country of the Soviets.

Don’t take it to heart Yue the American people who have lived a lifetime of peace in their own country cannot comprehend the point you are making.

Brought up on a diet of Rambo and Moms apple pie 90% of Americans don’t own a passport and probably don’t see the need , China, Taiwan, Afghanistan are labels on the back of consumer products bought at the ‘mall. not places to visit. Most Americans would be hard pushed to find other countries on a map of the world .

In a recent study of high school children most thought when asked the question ‘where is south America’ thought it was near Texas.

Americans are now plain frightened for the first time in recent history, they face a war fought on their own soil, for all the macho talk on this forum underneath they feel vulnerable .

Their leader strutting like a Texan cowboy with his six guns ready for a fast draw looks impotent, the only person who comes across with any dignity and intelligence is Colin Powell. An educated man who has actually fought for his country unlike Bush who’s father got him a ‘soft’ piloting job in decommissioned planes during the Vietnam war.

Powell above any one else knows the price of war and knows that in six months time the American people would have no stomach for it.

should it be Afghanis boy? can't Afghani be used as adjective before boy?

dictionary.com

Af·ghan·i (f-gn, -g)
adj.
Of or relating to Afghanistan; Afghan.

n. pl. Af·ghan·is
A native or inhabitant of Afghanistan; an Afghan.

Not that this is germane to the picture (nor why you posted it),
but it is worth noting that the word "Afghani" refers to the
currency used in that country. Someone who lives there is an
"Afghan" person.

Yue,

We agree again - that spelling is also in my paper dictionary. (Yes call me old fashioned but I take it with me to cheat when playing Scrabble - only way I can keep up with my wife)

sorry, but my dictionary clearly gives a choice of Afghan or Afghani as a native of Afghanistan. (both of them can also be used as adjectives)

damn, i must not communicate my thoughts too well ;)
i assume you were referring to me as the "one later"...

i am not condoning bombing of innocent civilians in afghanistan... completely useless. i am just stating my belief that there is no easy solution... not even a moderately difficult solution. my posing a question as to what the little boy had been taught was only to point out that terrorism is not a few groups of radicals with bombs, but rather a (sorry to employ an overused term) "cycle of hate", that wll be extremely difficult to stop. i'm fairly well educated (if not well informed on all issues), and i honestly do not see a solution at all.

I think rather than using the 40billion for antiterrorism, the spending can be more effective in eradicating terrorism if the money is used to help develop the very poor countries. Like someone else said, “bomb them, bomb them with bread, butter and milk, don’t forget cookies too”.

much of that 40 billion is being used within the US for increased security, cleanup and short-term bailout of various industries (e.g. airlines most likely). developing poor countries is vital, but requires a well-meaning leadership in those countries. it would also be very difficult to build support for such aid in light human rights differences (i.e. no education or employment for women under the taliban). who knows if it would work... i personally doubt it, but have been known to be wrong once or twice before ;)

hatem,

Not to mention that Saddam has killed his own people and then blamed us. During the Gulf War, he purposely had his soldiers kill hundreds of men, women and children, and then videotaped the dead bodies, calling this a US massacre, and telling the world. Many NATO countries succumbed to his lies and they backed out of supporting the war and future wars with Saddam.

The only way to do with these demons is to totally eliminate their country from the geographical map.

Not to get biblical, but for those Christians who don't like fighting and killing of innocent lives, the Bible clearly states that in order to kill your enemies, you must kill not only the men, women, and children, but even their livestock, and anything that is connected to them. God even gave this order. Over the years, we have become "soft" and this softness, will cost us dearly.

Terrorism is a cancer and we are the body. If we let the cancer grow to epic proportions, we will not be able to take out this cancer, because it will have spread throughout the majority of the body, and the body will die. I would rather amputate a finger, than see the body die.

The body is already decaying, Jason. Our Constitution and Bill of Rights have been withering for some time now due to our own negligence, and in some cases, purposeful behavior by our elected "government."

The First Amendment is honored in the breach, the Second Amendment has organizations dedicated to obliterating it, the Fourth Amendment, well forget the Fourth Amendment as its basically already gone. . .need I say more?

We don't have to worry about protecting "Democracy" from terrorists, because it's already gone in large measure.
