Just noticed this message on following website:

http://www.warehouseexpress.co.uk/

"Nikon are currently experiencing production problems with the D70s.
We will keep you updated."

Anyone know anything further on this?

I was just thinking of buying the 70s body to add to my D70.

(Apologies if this has already been posted....took a quick look but didn't notice anything)

Thats what put me off getting th D70s, I ended up impatient and went for the D50.

Jessops are -220 in stock (they've sold 220 cameras they dont have) and aren't expecting any for a good few weeks.

All local camera shops and online stores are out of stock!

Probably they can't make enough fast enough.

If it was just a supply & demand issue, I presume the website would just state "awaiting stock". This sounds more like a problem with manufacturing process or components.

I hope so too.

I may call Warehouse Express tomorrow if I have time. They are a very reputable supplier from my experience and the way the message is posted seems to imply more than supply issue, but I may just be reading more into it than there is.

Production problem is a very broad term. It could be supply and demand. It could be problems with the manufacturing plant. It could be a supply chain problem. It could be a discovered defect.

Looks like from the "leaked" info, that the D200 will be using the 1,005 segment sensor, which means that it could be possibly taking away from the D70s in terms of production and raw materials. I doubt that a manufacturer is going to announce that they are having physical problems producing a product to anyone, especially their vendors.

hi there.

well, there's definitively something wrong. my local dealer ordered d70s for me. i've been waiting for 40 days. it's supposed to come on monday. he says that there's almost NO nikon d70s in europe at all.

cheers,
zrinko.

I know stores dont like a lot of superceded stock left over when a new model is released. Just look at the poor soles still trying to sell D100's for more $$$ than the D70s
