I'm trying to build an unexpensive lightbox. Here's a test shot I just took of a cigaret lighter. I don't like it, but could you critique it? What do you think is mostly wrong with it? Not enough light?

Here's unresized but cropped version:

About equipment. PVC frame with white bed sheet over it. Two 200 Watt incandecent lights. Canon 20D with EF 50mm f/1.8

ISO100, 1/125s, f/4

Would I benefit from a 300 Watt lights and more transparent fabric?
Any tips greatly appriciated!

You would benefit from using a tripod....1/8 makes for 4 f/stops more ! That equals 3,200 more of Watts...

The front side of the lighter appears dull, you should let something brighter than the underground reflect into it.

Wouldn't that create more noise?

What do you mean? Should I add another light shining on top of it?

Thanks for the advice, btw! :)

1/8 sec shouldn't create noise ( on your 20D).

No, not on top (though the metal top could profit from more brightness, too). Take a mirror piece / tin foil..etc., and find a position in front / left of the lighter where an amount of the (diffusor) light source gets reflected into the metal hood - by swiveling and fumbling 'til you meet the right angle.
