More Samples of the R1

That picture has lots of blue sky, so you won't see much noise there, but look at the shadows and you see all the ugly chroma noise. Generally, people won't use ISO 1600 on a bright sunny day, so a better example would be Phil's examples in the museum. Personally, I found them fairly nasty.

NO CA, I love the light of these pics, very clean and natural, 1600 usable, 800 fine, and 400 great, what a change from my 828. I am selling my 828, and trying to decide whether to leep my D70. This may be the cam I have been waiting for.

The last time I gave a though to CA was when I was researching and buying my 828. When I sold it, and got my current lenses, I forgot all about it, as the CA was at worst negligible in the lenses I own. But I can see how gung ho, some who stayed with the 828 would be about that issue.

I have to admit, I thought the photos in the museum were pretty nasty too but lets faceit, this camera IS NOT going to replace the DSLR. (not saying it won't happen someday but this is not the one). This is a goo d camera i its own right, we'll just have to wait and see what Sony brings out next but this is a pretty good start.

Well, it would replace some dslrs. Namely, the Olympus E300. The R1 pics are WAY better!

24mm is the FL equivalent. The real FL of the lens on the wide end is about 14mm. Many are designated this way
