FZ5 Hummers continued

... or do they love you more? What cooperative little hummers. They are beautiful. And you know I love those ones in the trees (but I also like the flying ones!)

Really nice. I haven't had much time to be in my garden this summer, so especially nice to see your Hummers.

I can look at your shots and dream. Dream of being able to capture a nice photo of a hummingbird someday. Your hummingbird feeder is beautiful. My sister gave me one just like it. The hummingbirds don't like mine though. I've tried everything! I love seeing your hummingbird shots. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

That's what mine did earlier in the year, just sniffed the feeder and flew away. Are there many feeders in you neighborhood? Sometimes I think the birds have such a smorgasbord of good food they don't settle into a single feeding station. Last year I had a pair that moved from my yard into the neighbor's when he put up a feeder. They seldom came back to my station. I guess he had a better formula, or maybe his was fresher (I'm often lazy and don't refresh the nectar often enough.)

I make my own suger water. For every cup of water, I use a 1/4 cup of sugar. I must have the best sugar water in town being sometimes I see 4 feeding at a time plus 2 more waiting. Although I now have a 6 feeder station, I think it is a bit uncomfy for them to have so many feeding at the same time. I just posted new pics and I think I have one with a number feeding at the same time.

I have a chair probably 3 or 4 feet from the feeder that I sit in. With Hummers, and especially if they are hungery, they will not get spooked if you are still or move very very slow. I am a very patient person, and a couple of times I held the cam until my hands got tired. I have a tri pod, but it is not a super tall one.
Great new shots Marcus. I use about the same ratio of sugar to
water. They seem to like the result. How close are you able to get
to the feeder with your camera?
