Hi Guys!!

Been experimenting with Adobe again. I figured since PSCS can't read my 20D RAW files, I can stick with 7.0 or Elements.

Anyway, my question is ... for "basic" editing, and modifications of general images (nothing really fancy) will Elements suffice equal to basic editing of PSCS and PS7.0?

I have been using PSP 9.10 and I find Elements easier to use or should I say less intimidating than the heavy stuff. :-)

Hers's one I just did with Elements:

Suggestions, comments, tips and ideas are most welcome ...

... and then batch it.

Also there is a freeware app that you can use to add the exif back to the photo. Cannot remember the name of it. I'll post back when I find it or maybe someone else knows what I'm talking about.

I use the save for web fuction also and adobe attempts to stripout all information the file which is not needed for the image.

Especially if you do the RAW-> Tiff in DPP so that you perform all color tonality manipulations in 12-bit RAW before doing contrast and sharpness manipulations in PS-E (in 8-bits).

how to use a signature file. But when I want to use the copyright symbol in Elements 2 & 3 I select the Text tool with the font, size and color I want. I then click where I want the symbol to be and then hold down the ALT key and type 1069. Then I add my name and date as I normally would.

You might consider asking in the retouching forum about using signature files. I remember reading some threads about it a while back.

With elements 3.0 you can do the raw conversion directly in elements with the same plugin that you use for the full version of CS. It also supports 16 bit and color management. It does not have curves and you cannot write actions. But I think it does have most of the key functionality that is missing in elements 2.0.

To record the copyright signature seen at the bottom of this image
so I can import it into the photographs without having to type it
over again and search for the "C" symbol. :-(
Yes, I got an action that puts the text at the bottom and use it in a batch along with putting the frame around, running basic sharpening, NR and resizing and saving for my PBase site. I just run that action in batch mode and leave the computer. I end up with a folder filled with all my photos ready to upload those I want to my photo site. My end result looks like this:

You can create an action to include almost anything you want. It is great!

you can also make a "brush" with your sig and copyright.

start with a new image and a transparent base, image size maybe 400ppi 2 inches by 4? type in the stuff you want in any font, add any layer styles,

select the empty back ground, and invert the selection(if you select the text you may not get all the effects)

then go to the menus and choose "define brush"(in Elements it is in "edit" I have no idea where they might have put it in CS)
you can the change the ppi to make the same brush in a different size.
to use the brush, select the paint tool and your "namebrush" brush in the menu.

note: you can use different transparency and merge modes for paint brushes. you will need sizes scaled to the size of your images.

This is a book i got that came with a cd. It unlocks or adds a ton of features for pse 3.0 like calculations, channels, clipping paths, custom vectors, curves, masking, color seperations (rgb, cmyk, and lab) and a bunch of other stuff.

Life is worth capturing...one image at a time.

Elements 2.0 was lacking but 3.0 really has all I need.

I just can't see the extra price as being justified. Any software will be out of date in a year and I don't make $$ off my photos, so I prefer to invest in glass.
