I'm Soooooo cute

This is one of several squirrels that visits my yard to eat
birdseed. He especially likes the unshelled peanuts, which he
buries in our vegetable garden -- hope he remembers to dig them out
later :-)

wow what a great shot! I know how easily spooked squirrels are so you done really well to catch him/her (not sure which) so great. Do dof, great focus, great exposure...the only quibble is only one eye in the shot, but thats a minor point and my opinion only...if only i could do wildlife shots like this...:-)

Cheers

Richard,

Thank you so much for your comment. I've seen your very good work, and I've no doubt that you are capable of better wildlife shots than mine. You DO have to spend a lot of time sitting very still, though. And it helps to bribe the squirrels with food :-)

About the "missing" eye. I understand your point. I have taken some shots where the squirrel was looking right at me, and I like the "communication" implied. Here, though, I caught the animal being more "natural," not interacting with a human. Just a different way to view him. It probably WOULD have been better if I had caught him with his head turned slightly more toward me so I could see the other eye, though. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Adrienne,

This is a terrific photo! Looks like a studio portrait of the little guy. I love the composition and the beautiul lighting. The sharpness is amazing. I think this is the best squirrel photo that I have seen posted here. Thanks for sharing this one w/us. Curt A.

Thanks, Ron,

Thank you. Yes, I DO have a lot of fun watching them This spring one of the females brought her youngster to feeder to show her how to get "easy" food. She was much more cautious then, and I never managed to get a good shot. I hadn't had as much experience doing wildlife shots then, either.

Nice Gallery,
And they are a lot of fun to watch.
Ron

Thanks, Gary. I'm happy to be able to watch them. The other day I managed to get one to take a peanut from my hand. He stayed just out of reach up in a tree, and stretched out juuuuust enough to reach the peanut.

Wow, Curt, your comments blow me away! I've spent a lot of time taking squirrel photos this year. There was quite a learning curve -- the first ones were terrible :-(
Thanks!

The first ones might have been bad, but this one, and the others on your web site certainly are not. Very nice work.

Charles,

Thanks for your comments on my squirrel photo. He's a lovely speciman, and he was fun to photograph. It was a stroke of luck that he stopped in a splash of sun.

Hugh,

Thanks for the very kind words. Practice has certainly improved my shots, but I'm not ready to quit trying to improve quite yet :-)

Thierry,

Good joke. No WAY do I believe your own squirrel pix don't have value to you :-) I tried to find your squirrel pix in this forum, but I couldn't find them. Can you tell me where they are posted?

Anyway, thanks for your enthusiastic comments. I'm really glad you liked my photo.
