Hi all

I took the advise from my previous post of making a photo black and white but keeping some parts as colour, its not nearly as hard as i thought it would be, just quite time consuming, anyway....

here are some photos i did today, i am very happy with them and i would like your views on them
(i have also posted these on the samples and galleries forum)

thanks
Joe

for this one i changed the colour of the whole photo so the raindrops looked blue, made the new layer black and white and erased the raindrops, i think that the rain might be a little too blue but i kept the image in .psd so i can change it again if need be but i like the heavy tones of blue

in this one i played around with it and made it all b&w except the fly, then i made the leaf colour and the bee and background b&w but after all that i decided this one looks the best, it really brought the colour out in the fly because in the origional picture it didn't look very colourfull.

What do you think???

Hi Joe,

Nice job. I am one of those that like to mix color and b/w too.

I think you should select a subject, like the raindrops in the first or the fly in the second and desaturate everything else...

Here is one that I did sometime ago...

... You should also try for lots of contrast in the B&W sections...
