D200 will make me take better pictures...

I have to disagree with this statement.

New technology can optimize a good photographer's skills...I don't believe it can increase one's skills. To do so, it takes pratice, studies, experience and dedication.

I've seen beautiful pictures taken by skillful photographers with a plastic camera such as a Holga.

my two cents.

I just know im gonna be a better photographer with this new camera....

Where do I spend my money?!?

LOL...all joking asside....it will more than likely (with the more MP just like the D2X) show my weaknesses....which is a good thing....I like unforgiving cars to drive too...they make me a better (more thinking) driver.

Are you talking about the new built in autopilot that navigates you to the best place for making a pic, or the built in alarm clock wich wakes you up, so that you dont miss the sunrise ?
no doubt about that!

...made an ugly typo.

Very sorry about that.

that's what the subject line was supposed to be:

"D200 will make me take BIGGER pictures" :))))

...here in the SUV-luvin' USA.

BTW, I just filled up and it was $73 -- for REGULAR ;-(

If you shoot Nikon don't argue with Canon measurbators, they have much longer rulers.

...10MPG SUVs ;-)

It all equals out.

What I find interesting is that it seems there are many people reading this photography gear site that do not like cameras. They must be forced to buy camera gear and thus have an axe to grind and just hate hearing about new camera gear that they will somehow be forced to buy again.

A new camera will improve your photography skills if it's so enjoyable to use that you spend more time practicing and actually taking photos. To that length, I think my D2h did help me improve my photography because I simply could not put it down. Spending more time = more time to learn.

And upgrading a camera will likely improve the quality of the photograph - if not, you didn't spend enough time reading the reviews and wasted your money on the wrong camera. Whose fault is it if you buy something you didn't need or something that is worse than what you already had?

Michael Shumacher is the best F1 driver in the world, no doubt about that. He has won 5 consecutive world championships in a row. But you see, as soon as his car is not competitive, like the Ferrari is today, he can do nothing but watch the other less capable drives beating him on much better built cars.

And the moral of the story?

Technology and skills cannot live without each other. As soon as technology advances so do the skills and again technology. That's why we no longer use spears to provide ourselves with food; we simply get into our cars and drive to the next grocery store. You may be the best spear tosser in the world but you can be sure that the guy on the car is more likely to live a longer life (if he doesn't crash his car).

For God's sakes! My old IBM with the 386 processor used to be great and fulfill my needs until the 486 came out, and later the Pentium.

Nikon. Wake up!! You are telling us to use the 386, when Canon is running the Pentium 4, IMHO.

Your analogy assumes that the OP has photagraphic talent to start with. Look at it this way: if the best car in F1 today is Renault, could you with the championship with it? I think not.

In any case, the thread was an attempt at sarcasm, methinks.

Please, allow me to doubt it.

You'd better save some extra money and buy a good cam.

Will it have a built in GPS to show you where those signs are in parks and along scenic highways that tell you were to take pictures? If not, Nikon better wake up!
