If you didn't see my post last week, my 20D went haywire about a week ago. It was to the point where my shutter would keep firing...even when turned OFF! I had to remove the battery to stop it.

I got it to Canon Irvine last Wed, and got it back today! Only 7 days (including shipping days)! I was gonna send it to Ritz under my warranty with them, but they quoted me 4-8 weeks! Ugh.

Does anyone understand what was exactly repaired on my camera? Here's what they said:

--Replaced DC/DC PCB Ass'y/CF Slot Pin Ass'y. Clean lube and align CMOS sensor/Focus/shutter/mirror. All feature and functions were checked using PC and MAC with USB and video.--

What's a DC/DC PCB Ass'y? I dunno.

My hat's off to Canon repair!!

it is probably the voltage controller for the sensor, and other on board components.

DC/DC

A DC (direct current, as you would get from batteries and most mains power packs) to DC convertor. No doubt converts the 7.4v from the internal battery into something more useful to the camera circuits (say 12v and 1.2v).

PCB

Printed circuit board.....contains electronic components, sockets, sensors etc. Usually flat but more & more these days are flexible and bend around the internal structure.

looks like they also checked the sensor alignment and af calibration. probably getting to be a standard check point!
