I did not post this anywhere else,as I didn't wish to be flamed, but if you look look at the images from the 5D on the preview, you will see two large dust spots in the blue sky.I don't mention this to gloat(well maybe a little),but to show Oly's technology is not overrated,as many C&N users have stated. My best shooting buddy has a D100,and has to clean the sensor every month. My Canon buddy the same.Yet when C&N people flame Oly,they clame the sensor shaker is hype, and is not really important.I just thought it was interesting that C's flagship product, exhibits this.Makes me glad I use Oly. I don't know how to do the link thing, but they are in the preview of the 5D on this site.Scroll to the sample images, and look at the ones of a bridge type object, with lots of blue sky,and you will see two blobs in each picture,in the sky area. Dave

I can't seem to get to that sample page anymore!!!
maybe they are removing it???

I hope someone prt screened it! I want to see!
My guess? Someone else noticed those dust spots too. I'm betting the picture will show up again after a good sensor cleaning and reshoot.

Ironic, no?

Yes !
Saw them, there is more than 2...you also have those on the tower
photo (21/28).
it's there.

A few hours ago, very briefly I looked through 5D gallery and I think the 21/28 image was still there. Now that you mention there was dusk on that image's blue sky, they immediately took it offline! Haha.. Long live the Oly dust buster :)

The dust spots are clearly visible in sky in the brigde shot. There is a very big one in the left side.
Go Olympus!

doesn't look like it would take much to clone out, but hey after 1.5 years of E1 I haven't had to clone once! Numerous lens changes in dusty environments too. Phil's maybe had this camera a couple weeks at most maybe a month?

I know folks who never take their lens off at all, one camera one lens, need a different lens get another camera. This person is a working pro with a Canon top of the line 16 MP unit and a couple of 20D's however.

I've also had folks come up to me and ask how I can change a lens outside with a digital camera...aren't all the shots going to be dusty now?

The sswf works, works well, and was a big reason I picked Olympus!

At the risk of inflaming Oly users in this the only DPReview fourm I have ever posted in, you might want to get Oly to rethink their post of this image.

I own this lens along with all the other pro lenses but the 300 and feel that this image does a great dis-service to the quality of the 7 to 14 zoom.

If Phil has posted images which contain dust that addresses a testing issue not an issue of the camera quality, we all know Oly is the only camera with a dust shacker.

Phil Rudin

Disagree with you about dust being a testing issue vs a camera quality issue. The ideal result of a review is to be indicative of the quality you will obtain from the equipment in actual use. Dust is an issue in the real world, or at least where I live out here in the high desert.

I fully agree that dust is an issue for all cameras, but had the dust not been in the image would it make the camera any better or worse? If I post an E-1 image with a dust spot does that change the quality of the camera? I think not. The Olympus dust buster is clearly an outstanding feature of the camera but I would own my E-1 and 300 even if it didn't have this feature for the superb glass and build quality.

wait untill you have this camera for some weeks.
I am sure you won't say somtinge diference.
this spots are on an brand new camera.
and with time it will be visible in large prints.
you have no idd.
and wait untell you take pictures abouve F/11
But indeed the camera won't take bad pictures becouse of the spots.
but if the pictures are importend, hehe wat then ?
The only option is cleaning the camera or remove all the spots in adobe.
good luck with the last one.

I have done it ones,I never go back.

if you got 250 pictures good lord if you all need to clean them in adobe.
you are buzzie for an week.
nope.not for me.
I am glad olympus have the dust system.
