Hello
I'm planing on buying a new Dell laptop computer.

I do not got much experience as many of you do in looking for coupons or the best deal.
It it were you? what would you buy? and please include price and coupon codes

The laptop is going to be used as photoshop (not that heavy use), games, internet and travel, so light weight is a must.

Thank you!

they don't hold up. Each and every one of them had a problem in the first year, from HD fail to keyboard fail to wireless capability fail. Fortunately I have that whiz bang no questions asked service agreement, but it's still a PITA to get it fixed because you're talking to someone who barely speaks English 12 timezones away from the US and they have to send you the parts and you have to install them and then send the old parts back.

Next time I'll get something from Best Buy where I can take it to a store and get it fixed on the spot or get a loaner.

This space reserved for a clever phrase, as soon as I find one that hasn't already been taken.

Every once in awhile you can get a code for 40% off. About two weeks ago one was available, but I wasn't ready to buy. Now I am ready and waiting! I plan on getting the Inspiron 9300 with the following:
• Intel Pentium M - 1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB
• 17” UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
• 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
• 256MB NVIDA GeForce Go 6800 Video Card
• 100GB Hard Drive
• 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+ -RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
.

Dell usually has the best deals at the end of each of their quarters, with the best deals of all usually coming the last 2 weeks of October. It's often worth the wait. The 40% off coupons plus free LCD monitors and other free upgrades (double memory, larger hard drives, free DVD writers, etc.) usually happen around those times.

My favorite deal sites are on my web site links page. And you should sign up for the Dell home and Small business deals e-mails; though, I had to sign up multiple times before I started receiving anything.

If you are a college student or employee, your college might have a dell discount program too, which can sometimes be combined with other coupon codes. Some big companies also have similar Dell programs.

Eric is right about Dell's end of the quarter promotions. The coupon codes are usually stackable and the perks such as free memory, hard drive, etc. upgrades sweeten the deal. The coupon codes usually have limitations such as for Dell Small Business or Home customers for the first x number of uses. Keep an eye on these sites as they are the first to learn about the codes:

I got lucky during there last end of the quarter and scored a 20" wide screen LCD for $380.00 along with a fully loaded / maxed out configuration Inspiron 9300 for about $1500

Here are a couple of sites to watch for good Dell deals.

I have been looking for the same thing. I will probably wait and see if I can get one of the deals bringing down the 9300 to about $800 or the 600m to about $700 before I buy. Also, check out the refurbished offerings. I bought my desktop through the Dell Outlet and it has been wonderful. The exact same system through either Home or Small Business was $400 more. So far I have not found as good of deals on the refurb laptops, but I keep looking.

A couple more below.

I just bought a Inspiron 6000 with the 40% coupon, plus the 2% discount for using their preferred account. Financing special was no interest until 2007.
