OCC finished their "Shuttle Tribute Bike" and unvieled it at the Johnson Space Center on Monday. Here's Paul Sr. taking a the bike for a spin.

It was practically impossible to get any shots of the bike at the unvieling. Too many people, not enough room.

Luckily, the OCC guys agreed to bring it to the Outpost Tavern (a local NASA hangout) after work. The good news - you get to see the bike close up. The bad news - the lighting & backgound were terrible.

Anyway, here are some shots - I'm not terribly proud of them.

The bike is a much better subject than Paul Sr. there are only two things that could have made this photo better.

1) A hot girl in a bikini!
2) Me being there to take photos of the bike my self!

Great job. I like the detail shots...I think that is what I like about their Choppers...the little details that make the bike stand way out from any other.

Good job!

The other things that would have been nice are:

1) The bike out in the open on a bright day with a high haze
2) Nothing in the background except a distant bokeh

That extreme black and white gloss bike, the white truck in the background, the bike in the shadow, and shooting into the sun made for some intersting exposures, and some creative PS work.

Thanks. The images don't do it justice. There is some unbelievable art and metal work on that machine.

At the risk of going against the tide I have to jump in here and comment on these West Coast Chopper guys. First let me say I have been in the motorcycle industry for quite a few years and both as a rider and on the media side.

It is really ashame to see guys like this get so much undeserved attention. First from a personality stand point they act like self absorbed self important "bikers" but so much of this is an act.

In my opinion these "chopper" guys are catering to the wanna be crowd and their designs are rehashes of the same designs with different metal thrown on it. While the NASA bike is clever it also looks a little corny and not that well executed.

But what really bothers me is there are sooooo many great bike designers out there that have been building bikes for 30+ years who are truly artist. People who are original in their designs and their bikes are classic art. And they don't have their own show or get the attention loud mouths like this guys get.

Check out someone like Arlen Ness's work. Arlen and his son Cory are not only fantastic designers but geniune nice guys. They don't have to put an act or scream and yell. http://www.arlenness.com

The list of talented people in the bike building industry is long and they build bikes because they are passionate about their work. It is disappointing to me to see this so called bad biker persona continue to be marketed as the best in the industry.

Sorry for the rant and I know this is a photography forum.

I have to admit, I find the show pretty entertaining...but that's got to be the most rediculous looking bike they've made. Too bad they couldn't put some big shuttle wings on each side.

I guess as the show goes along they have to constantly make the bikes more and more "gimicky". It'd be nice to see them make a real bike for somebody.

I actually kind of agree. I wish they had done something a bit more subtle with the fuel tank. The vertical stabilizer on the rear fender could go, too. I DO like the black & white engine finsh and the designer air cleaner.
