Hi!

I've read a lot posts on this forum about problems with 1GB cards of different makes when used in Canon S2 IS. Kingston, Sandisk, Twinmos and some other brands where cousing problems. There were various suggestions as of the true origin of the problem, some pointing to the S2 mishandling SD when used with depleted batteries.

Now, my question is what Canon officially say about this problem. It quite clearly looks like it is certainly a problem with S2, not with the cards itself. Is there going to be a firmware update released or there is more serious design problem in all S2's?

Have used SanDisk Extreme III 1Gb card for a month, since day1, first I did was a low level format (it previously resided in an Ixus 40) and never had any problems with it.

Same here - Sandisk Ultra II, 1 GB, 1.5 months, no problems (never even formatted it -just popped it in the camera and started shooting)

..........I've never ever formatted a card, of any make or size, CF or SD. Eight Canon cameras in the family and we just take the cards out of the packet. shove them in, switch them from camera to camera sometimes and never had any problems at all. The only thing I am careful about is downloading with Downloader Pro which recognises which camera was used and puts them in a separate file so I don't get a file number conflict.

I am having problems with
Kingston Elite Pro SD 1 GB 1 GB / Secure Digital
and IS s2.

Since I bought the camera and memory separat I am still trying to figure out whether the problem is the camera, firmware or the Kingston Memory cards.

Whenever the camera creates folder nr. 2 on the SD card and I switch to view mode the display says "no images". Subsequently when trying to take photos I'm getting a memory error.

I can still transfer pictures via a SD memory card reader to the PC and then low format the card on the camera... but the cycle is complete when it creates a second folder again.
