PS CS2 strange behavior

I have started having trouble in CS2 with the movement of the mouse not showing on the screen. Example: I have the lasso tool selected. I can see the lasso icon, but when I move my mouse, the icon doesn't move. NOW, here is the weird part - if I look at the info palette, the R,G, and B values change as I move my mouse.

So, the computer knows my mouse is moving, but the icon doesn't go with it.

Any help?

Does you mouse have batteries to it? If so, have you changed them to see if the mouse will show up? Or you might have to reinstall PS.

Get a PC! ... j/k

Try unplugging the mouse, then plug it back in.

My mouse sometimes doesn't come back from a system sleep... so I turned all that off.

I do not think it is a mouse problem. The mouse works or you would not be getting changing values for RGB. The cursor is obviously moving but the onscreen display is not. Are your video drivers up to date and have you checked RAM?

I changed the batteries, per Catz, and I unplugged/plugged the mouse, per Mike W.

Things seem to be working OK right now, but I tend to agree with mdavis that some video driver or something else is causing this problem

BUT, since Catz's and Mike's solutions are working right now, I will take it and not look back.

I don't suppose you've changed the hardware acceleration, I keep mine all the way up to full.

I recently had a problem with "mouse" movements on my 'puter at "work" (you know, the day gig) and had an "expert" come to the shop to take a look at the machine. We screwed around with serial mice, different mouse drivers, ad nauseum then decided, on a hunch, to replace the power supply. Why???????? I'll never have that answer but it worked! That was 4 months ago and I haven't had a problem since.
It's a relatively inexpensive repair and very easy to do.
YMMV.

If you can visualize it, then create it in the camera, finish it off with the print that matches your mind's eye then you are, most likely, a master...

Gary,

Forget if you have a tablet, and you may know this already, but having the pen or mouse near the tablet when you are using the other one OR using a different mouse can cause really odd behavior. Hopefully all is well now, just thought I'd throw that in, in case others with mouse problems run into this thread...

Thanks, Kent. I do have a tablet, and that was my first thought. I put the stylus and the mouse for the Wacom (which I don't use) on the floor to get them out of the way. No glory. Then, I tried to use the stylus with my regular mouse on the floor. Same thing.
