What a fun and capable camera! I was taking some photos at a friend's wedding. When my Rebel CF was full I pulled out the S2 for some carousel photos and caught this one. No PP yet.
Rebel- 2/3 keepers, S2 1/3 keepers.

Really like the lighting and expressions. I bet that one will make the album!

Are you liking the S2 as your backup/travel cam? It behaves differently than a dSLR since it has such a tiny sensor. For instance, you can only get a small DOF at longer zoom, and aperture has little effect on DOF.

Obviously the XT is capable of taking better shots, but I wonder if your hit rate would improve if you used the S2 more, since they behave somewhat differently.
Just a thought. Judging from your shot posted here you obviously have talent.
Thanks for sharing,
TK

I don't have any of the wedding itself with the S2, but here are 3 more from the reception (Look carefully for the nonverbal editorial comment on my photography aspirations from the groomsman in photo #1). I have some 300D shots of the wedding I'm sorting through and may also post if any look worthwhile.

The pic is nice except for the white balance. It's wayy too yellow/warm for my taste. Is there a manual white balance setting on the S2?

BTW, I'm hoping to get the S2 real soon myself. :-)

There are manual WB settings, but I'm waaay too slow to change them, so in changeable light like this- indoor/outdoor, I stick with auto. You're right- it's not perfect, but better than when I (inevitably) forget to change the setting.

do you have any more wedding
photos taken with the S2? I'm interested since I will be at a
wedding next month with my S2......
Here are a few pix I took at a wedding last month with my S2. Sorry if you've seen them before.

Please keep in mind the following when you view them:

First, I hardly knew how to use my S2, it was so new. Second, I sat in a place where people were all over in front of me so, hardly knowing what I was doing, I shot these few photos when there was an ever so brief break in the crowd. Finally, the bride and groom were so tan that it hurt me to look at them. So the color of their skin in the first photo is exactly as they were. I pray they stay well as they get older....

Wow! Once again, Gail, you demonstrate that the tool is nice, but the photographer creates the art. Bravo! And thank you. Rick

I'm enjoying the S2 very much. I've never had this speed of operation or this zoom, though of course I'm spoiled indoors with the 300D. It's a real challenge to learn how to use the S2, AND learn photography at the same time. Especially for candids, when there is little time to set things up properly. So, I anticipate my hit rate will improve dramatically the more experience I get.

Then again, my current keepers will likely go to the dustbin as my standards heighten, so maybe hit rate won't change much?! ;> )
