There are a lot of photo mags out there.
I keep finding more at out of the way bookstores.
Specialised ones. A bunch from other countries. Etc.
I have even seen people at work with some that I never
found offered anywhere to subscribe to or buy off the rack.

What are the ones you subscribe to now.
Which ones bring you some pleasure to look at.
Which ones are educational or helpful.
Which ones are just a waste.

Years ago I used to get Rangefinder.
It was aimed at pros, primarily weddings, but also
school packages. Is that still around?

I buy Shutterbug sometimes, mostly for the ads.

I buy every issue of Digital Photo Pro, mostly for the articles.

I buy Fortune when the cover tells me thatree are stories that interest me. Same with Fast Company and Wired.

Cote Sud arrives at my house, and I enjoy the photos.

I buy most issues of Vanity Fair, and the really thick issues of Vogue. Elle a couple of times a year.

Car sometimes, mostly for the photography, although the writing is extraoprdinarly good, too. Car and Driver for a North American car magazine.

Communications Arts several times a year.

Business Week may 15 times a year. Again, depends on the cover and the feature stories. A few Economists each year.

Toronto Life and Saturday Night, now that Saturday Night has a new editor.

From the librrary and currently at home; two issues of In Britain.

This weekend's magazine -- it's a long weekend where I am, is Digital Photo Pro.

American Photo is my favorite for stories about pictures. Digital Photo Pro for pro digital info. Photo District News for business-oriented info.

Popular Photography for equipment reviews.

There are some good British mags but I get the titles mixedup, and don't have one handy right now so I can't check. $17 each, with a CD in the back, and oversized pages, and Digital inthe name.

Someday Shutterbug may hire a copy editor, and the writing will improve. But it has lots of ads.

I dont think you can beat Rangefinder as a Photographers mag.
Great articals on actual people and studios, great photoshop tips.
Great Mag all the way around.
PDN is good too. (Photo District News)

I've often wondered the same thing myself, but never thought to ask it here, lol.

I was very fortunate that Digital Photo Pro sent me a complimentary issue the first month it came out. After reading it, subscribed and have eagerly awaited every issue since. I love that magazine, in terms of timeliness of the articles, quality of the photography, advertising and quality of the presentation. It has easily become my favorite magazine of all.

I also subscribe to Popular Photography and have for years. Mostly for the reviews and the occasional story (the recent interview with Arnie Freytag, Playboy photographer and what he goes through to light a set was a great read).

To inspire me photographically, I buy Vanity Fair on occasion, as well as Sports Illustrrated (not for the sports, but the photography is always superb) and Life magazine. I have bought the occasional issue of American Photographer and National Geographic (though I honestly think that in general, their photography has gone downhill).

Of couirse, I subscribe to other magazines as well: PC World, PC Magazine, . US News and World Report and a couple of literary magazines. As you might surmise, I love reading! Thanks for starting this thread.

I find Shutterbug, EDigital, Peterson's and most of the others, boring and a waste of money.
