This was a full frame shot from top to bottom... just cropped a bit off the side. This baby was about close to 100mm in size hanging bewteen to cypress trees in the swamp of Georgia. Lighting was poor so I had to use the built in flash.

Whats the name of that one...
I don't know but it is dark in the garden now, so I'll ask her tomorrow morning :-))

The real answer is: I really don't know the name of this spider, it is not the kind of thing I'm in normally but I'm still impressed about Sigma’s 180 mm zoom lens. That’s why I did so much macro stuff in the last couple of weeks.

Here is another one (full frame D30, no crop)

Best,
Sven

How do you like the Sigma 180 macro ? Did you happen to compare it
with Canon 180 ?
Pondria,

I like it a lot, it is an excellent piece of glass. I tried the 180mm Canon macro lens from a friend for a couple of days but bought the Sigma lens after they got a major price drop for this particular lens here in Germany and as far as I can see there is no difference to the Canon, the lens is sharp and fast and renders excellent colours. But this is only my very subjective opinion without shooting lens charts.

You’ll find a little more on this lens here:

BTW: Pondria I’ve seen your very nice pond (tour) pictures (one year back I think), in case you are still interested in pond pictures, here is our pond:
