I picked up this info from my Pro1 friend. When using "fill flash" in the outdoors, set "slow synchro" to ON. I find the light cast on the foreground subjects to look much more natural. Try it yourself. But remember to turn it to OFF when shooting indoors or low light else pictures tend to blur.

Gail setting the flash exposure to -1 is that only for outside pics? Or inside also?

Elizabeth :)

gail, where is the flash compensation set on an S2? I have seen
the flash power -- it this what you are talking about? Or are you
just talking about eV?
I believe we're talking about the same thing: The + -(Flash) menu accessed in the Function menu. It is separate from Ev + -(Exp.) also found in the Function menu.

The Canon manual seems to indicate that EV should be set to 0 when using Flash Compensation. I haven't experimented enough to know the effect of having both on.

Okay, thats what i thought, i was playing with that yesterday. It seems to only have three settings -- the default, and two more settings to the right. So I was confused in your earlier post about setting the flash to "-1" as there is no setting.

thanks!

Then we may not be talking about the same thing. Are you talking about the Flash Sych settings accessed via the Menu button? I'm talking about the flash feature in the Function area. There are definately + - steps for the flash.
