Beautiful Joffre Lakes (14 small c770 pics)

First off, very nice job with some awesome scenery (yes, some envy here). Great waterfall in #3 and I enjoy the color that the logs bring to the picture in #5. My absolute fav is the one with the tents. It's a great composition. The tents really give scale and show how majestic the area is.

I'm with everyone else, I don't see the botching at all. They look fine to me. If there are some areas like this that bother you, you can select just those spots one at a time with the polygonal lasso tool and lower the color saturation of that selected area just a bit to see if you like the look better.

Canadian Club,

You forgot to tell them the real reason. In the PNW, in glacier land, (not exactly in my back yard) rivers, and the lakes they run into, contain "glacial flour" i.e., fine bits of ground up whatever, which gives those rivers and lakes a bit of a chalky look, sometimes blue opaque some times greenish opaque. One of the best known rivers for its glacial flour is the Green River in Western WA, famous for the Green River serial killings.

Another fine series, well done my friend.
Thank you Dave!
I fail to see what os wrong woth the last shot I have looked at the
full screen can you be more specific? (for my benefit) happy to
help if I can.
I would post a crop if I was at home. But one area from the last image is the rocky point on the top, 1/3 way from the left. It is in the shadows, and on my monitor at home, I see some wierd "color noise" blotching or something. Funny though that on my girlfriend's monitor I don't see it. Maybe I just need to calibrate my monitor or something.
Nice work Wayne pleased to see you are in trekking mode once more.
Me too Dave! Thanks again!

Cheers,

Wayne

Waynster! What a trek!!
AHster! How are ya!
You don't know how fortunate you are to
have access to landscape like that. Absolutely beautiful. Nothing
like it anywhere else.
Thanks AH! Yes, I'm gaining appreciate for this area's beauty!
Do you know why the water is the colour it
is ?? I'd hazard a guess at one of the metal ions, but then it must
be natural abundance - there's obviously no heavy industry around
there. I hope not anyway!
I knew if I waited long enough, Sharon would help me out!:

And no, no heavy industry about lol!
The larger versions of the pics do the scenery proper justice.
Great slow shutter speed shots of the streams too. You two clearly
had a wonderful time. Me too, just looking at the pics. Thanks.
I'm very glad you enjoyed them AH! Thanks!

Cheers,

Hi Wayne,

This is something that we don’t see often. Not just the nature, but great pictures too. You lucky guy :)

I love this gallery. Every picture is really special, and they just show that you had a great time there.

Thanks for this treat my friend. I really enjoyed :),
Alex.

Jazzes Wayne , this is impressive! What a beautiful place! What a
great camera! And last but not least : what a wonderful
photographer. You really make that camera sing!
Whoa - thanks Carl - those are mighty kind words!

But you are right, that was a truly magical place, and the c770 is an awesome little camera. I had a lot of fun trying to capture it!

Thanks again!

Wonderful pictures, Wayne! Really makes me miss being in the
Sierras back in California.
Thanks Mel! If you do make it back there, you know what to do! (take lots of pictures and post them here Lol!)
At any rate, do you have any
experience with other hiking pole monopods? When I eventually get
a camera (and maybe the C-770 in a week or two after I get to try
one out), I'd like a setup that will be compact and fast enough to
take hiking and possibly even backpacking.
This is the pole that I have:
http://www.trackspoles.com/walking_hiking.asp?Action=SherliteStaff
So it only took a couple of seconds to get everything set up and
ready to go? Would that be the same amount of time to pack up too?
Yup! Push in the button, give a slight twist, extend and click the button in the bottom hole. Same to retract - literally seconds. It took a while to find this one. The usual extendable poles take too long with the three sections, and often times are not sturdy enough. This one locks into place and is very sturdy (yet light).

The only downside is that when fully retracted, it is still about 2.5 feet long which is not very compact.
You know how some people are with hiking... they don't feel like
stopping too often.
Yup again! If you hike with me, you'll be stopping often Lol! The least I can do is try and make them bried stops!

Take care Carl!

Boy, those glacial moraines could sure do a number on a
hiker...take awhile to get a body out if they screwed up an ankle
or worse.
Very true Sharon. We actually did see one teenager boy fall and hurt his leg in those big boulders - ouch! I hope the bears didn't get him... (just kidding - he was going to be okay Lol!)
No, never mind, the whole gallery is terrific. They are
wonderful images; some are good, some are very good. My favorite
is:
Thank you very much Sharon! You know, when I added that image to the gallery, I was thinking how it reminds me of some of the wonderful images you've posted. Funny that!
Is this a single shot or another vertical pano?
That was a single shot.

Thanks again Sharon!

Oh, good you have more in your gallery. :0
Lol! Glad you found them David!
Really nice Wayne. I like your use of the portrait shots and the
gallery is filled with good ones.
I'm happy that you like those portrait mode shots David! :-)
I only wish we had country like that in our neck of the woods.
Well, you certainly seem to have a plethora of interesting scenery and critters to shoot though David, and you're doing an incredible job of capturing them! I'm still at a loss how you capture those dragonflies. I finally found a lot of them flittering around, but as soon as I would get within 4 feet - gone! Oh well, keep on inspiring me friend!

Thanks again!
