This place is unbelievable. It's a love/hate relationship with me. I think (some of you may remember) I called them the devil. However, I recently got a refurb XPS Gen3 for $765 and just ordered a 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS for $1500. The order confirmation gave a ship date of 8/6 for the lens. Guess what. It shipped yesterday. What a company. Right now, I love them.
 
I'll go you one better. I've had stuff sitting on my doorstep while the Dell site said it wouldn't ship for weeks in the future. Surprise!

They can be frustrating at times, but I would not want them to go away, I have gotten some great lens deals from them, Including the same deal that you went for, except I even get an extra $25 off by using a code I recieved in thank you card that they sent me a couple days earlier for placing an order earlier in the month. Thank you Dell!
My 70-20mm F2.8 IS shows shipped as well. I cannot wait.

Can u tell when did u place the order (date and time)

I placed an order for a 17-40 on 21st at around 11pm. It doesnt say its shipped. Its actually shows backordered. Did Dell send u a tracking #?

I ordered the 17-40 when the coupons were posted here... I got an email saying my order has started but has not been confirmed. Now I fear I won't get it by Sept 1 (when I go to Europe). I've been through hell trying to get a hold of someone without an order number... is there anyway I can cancel the order? Id rather just buy it somewhere else so I know for sure I'll have it for my vacation.

Did you not get the order # in the email? I got it along with my new customer id. The order shows as backordered.

....I'm still thankful that Dell is alive and well...and attracting the hordes of buyers away from my favorite do-what-they-say purveyor and not running it out of stock before I get there. I'm trying to keep it a secret, but here's a hint: it rhymes with Sky Pig.)

You're right...it takes forever to get to you...but the prices are so low...you just have to be patient...I bought two 580exes for 353 each out the door...when everywhere else was $50 each higher...it's all about searching for coupons and clicking on the computer...not some annoying salesperson trying to sell to you things you don't need(not to say all sales people are annoying I'm in sales myself)
 
I've gotten the 17-85IS and the 10-22 from Dell at great prices. Had to wait about a month for the 17-85, got the 10-22 in a few days.

Last night I ordered the 100-400 IS L for my gf. She lives in a state where Dell doesn't charge sales tax, so the total price was $1279. If it turns out to be a long wait for some reason, it's not a problem as I recently bought her the 300f/4 IS L, and she has a 75-300IS that I got her for Christmas, and the 18-55 kit lens. She doesn't need the 100-400 now .

For those who haven't received a shipped notice yet, keep checking your account page. That usually updates much faster than the e-mail notifications.

I like Dell and continue to order items from them (just ordered and received my 20D). The have some pretty good prices and you can sometimes add stackable coupons (from http://www.techbargains.com ) on top of their sales prices.

The only problem that I have with them if you have a problem with an order or need to troubleshoot something. It seems that most of their calls go off-shore. Going off-shore doesn't bother me, but what does is that the people answering are either not trained or not compitent. I have spent hours with these guys changing orders in the past. From a troubleshooting standpoint, my record was 3 hours to order a PC fan. It was pathetic, getting transferred all over the place.

Recently on my order for the 20D, I found that I could save more by separating the order of the camera body from my lens order. Again, that took about 1.5 hours and lots of headaches. I finally got around the problem by calling a "large business" number and pleaded with the guy (who was located in the US). He helped me out and resolved the problem in about five minutes.

She really enjoys it, especially bird photography.
She's my baby, and it makes me feel good to see her happy. :-)
Of course, I understand you. These are great lenses and if she uses them to full capacity you gave her very valuable gifts and very useful too. Heck, these lenses would bring smile to anyone's face! :)
 
Just checked my order status on the 100-400IS I ordered last night (Sunday). It's been shipped (Monday).
My lady is gonna be happy! :-)
