Yesterday I bought 2(two) batteries on E-Bay for my FZ-3 for $26.70(total price incl. shipping). The seller had a 'power rating', and a 99% approval rating. They are both 680mAh, and were listed as new replacements for part#CGA-S002. And stated that they would fit the FZ-3.

However, the original battery has a part# of CGA-S002A. Does anyone know what the 'A' means, and should I expect a problem with these very cheaply priced batteries.

Thanks
Mike

It's either a revision, another factory, or created with a specific market region in mind. Note that the batteries are the same across the FZ range.

It will work and I would expect no problems.

It does seem to me that the cheap batteries have a quality control issue but most fit and work fine.
If you get a dud the vendor will most likely make it right.

Just trying to learn and it's slow going!

Just to back up that reassurance, I bought a made-in-China replacement for 8 pounds a few eeks ago including shipping - compare with 60 pounds for the Panasonic branded. It seems to last as long as the original so I have ordered another from the same bay seller.

Can anyone give me the names of a couple ebay sellers of these cheap batteries who they have actually had a positive experience with? I have an FZ5 and want to get one or 2 more batteries for it but I certainly can't justify the price Panasonic charges if there are cheap and reliable alternatives (batteries and resellers) out there. Thanks

I bought from batt_shop - but search for DMW-BM7 to find more sellers. As usual shipping varies a lot.

I will let you know as soon as I recieve the two batteries I ordered from Ebay. I paid 24$ including shipment :)

The batteries have both been charged now and seems to work allright. Have not emptied one yet but it seems to last as long as the original panasonic. They fit nicely in both the cameray and charger.

You can find wongcheungkee store on ebay here, he only got 2 negative feedback out of 6545 replies the last year.
