I am not a Canon ower, yet. I do own an Olympus E-10.

I was looking for a smaller, high-quality, compact camera to use as an everyday piece.

Question: why hasn't Canon used CMOS sensors in their compact cameras? If they are as good as they say, and I am sure easier to manufacture in smaller sizes (already used in video cameras), then why not?

Just curious.

CMOS is less power consumption, but also lower quality, resolution and sensitivity. The manufacturing process is not as mature as for CCD.

This covers pretty well everything involved. (el)
