2 GB SD card for $146 on DELL

As described in the Pana-manual the fz5 can handle SDs only up to 1GB...so maybe the 2GB does not work at all...

i wouldn't buy anything from dell again , the worse company i ever dealt with . they charged my account with stuff i didn't buy and now after 1 1/2 years its still not straightened out . i thinking about a law suit. and the whole time my account ballance was zero and i'm still getin bills.

Thanks Brian,

I've been wondering about those ATP cards. I mean I really have not heard of the brand. So I'm still kinda holding back a little from buying one from them. But having said that, they have great prices.

So I guess 60x is like the Sandisk Ultra II (or the Extreme)?
I ordered an ATP 60x 1gb for my FZ5. It was just under $90 from
ecost. ATP cards are very fast and more durable than other cards.

Oh boy you got me started ....

I totally agree with you. Dell is HORRIBLE!

Same situation with me too. They claimed that I had it on lease when I paid up in cash! There was nothing I needed to pay but they kept sending me monthy quotes. While trying to sort things out, they sent a bill collector!!!

After two years of ding-dong with phone calls,, emails and finally complaints to the Better Business Office etc, they finally said they made an error. Mind you they never appologised! The word 'Sorry' was NEVER used in their emails and they refused to send letters of correction to the credit reporting agencies!!!

I should sue them just for that alone!

After this experience, who can blame me for never ever dealing with the Dell again!

My new position as an IT adminstrator has put me in the perfect situation to stop buying Dell equipment for my company!

I am very suspicious of this ultra3 (extreme) speed.

I have read enough of the sd-card spec (as much as is publicly available without an NDA, sigh..) and the max transfer rate of the MEDIA (bus speed) is 10MB/sec.

they claim 20.

you can't fit 2 pints of water in a 1 pint glass.

so I wouldn't waste my money on an extreme3 card. until they explain how they can exceed the bus speed of the sd-card standard.

(unless I'm missing something, that is).

60x (roughly) is the most you'll ever get out of regular old standard sd-cards.

in today's cameras and readers, at least.

not until the next rev of the sd-spec is in full production will you see anything that RUNS faster than 10MB/sec (which is about 66x or so).
Looks like these cards may be real -- since 2 companies now claim
to have the high speeds. I need faster cards to use with FZ5. The
"60x" ATP cards I purchased make it behave sluggishly.

Someone with Panasonic tested and confirmed the 2GB cards worked with the FZ20. Since the FZ5 is newer, I would assume it works as well.

Someone here will post the link...
Here is the link to a 2 GB SD card on sale at DELL:

Any ideas if this is fast enough for use on FZ5

It needs formatted or its a defective card.

About 5mb/s is as fast as the FZ cameras can read or write so anything over 32X is really not needed in the camera.

And I have that Panasonic super fast 133X card and its no faster in the camera than a Lexar32X

I just had to try it... and I am just trying to save some of you from wasting money.

We all have our experiences.

As a contractor, DELLs have been the best machines at any place I've worked. Far better than Compaq, HP, or others.

Personally, I've ordered two laptops from them and they have performed wonderfully. My mom's desktop from DELL is still doing fine.

Everyone is going to base their decisions on their own experiences, but I think yours is the exception, not the rule.

My dad has had two different dell systems and they are great systems. The part we absolutely hate about dell is the customer service. We have had problems with receiving the wrong items when ordered. We have had problems getting an answer to something about the system (being transfered 3 times and spending 1 hour on the phone, and by the way I was able to look up an answer to that question in 2 minutes using a google search.) Also being transfered to someone that is hard to understand english over the phone. We have had zero problems with the dell equipment, its just those dummy customer service people.
