I ordered a Sandisk Extreme III 2 gig today, but they are out of stock for at least 2 weeks. Does anybody know if the Lexar 80x 2 gig card is as fast and durable as the Sandisk Extreme? And how about the Dane Elec xs?

Kind regards,

Check the extensively researched CF card database on the Rob Galbraith website. Frankly with all their recent problems, I'd stay away from Lexar cards.

I admit, I'm a Sandisk user. I've never really seen the sense in buying a Lexmark card; they are slower and as far as I can see equally or more expensive. They are apparently also more prone to compatibility issues.

They do have have that cool 80X!, though. Must be worth the extra $$ :-)

Thanks! I will pick up the Sandisk Ultra which is available in my store. The extreme-version seems to be sold out everywhere in the Netherlands :(

Lexar NOOOOOOOOO don't do it!! I have a 1ds mk2 and three Lexar 4gb 80x cards and one 2gb 80x card and the problems I have had!! lost images, corrupt files, images that look fine but when opened crash, all down to the Lexar card, in Lexar adverts they say "don't trust your camera with anything else" ha ha ha that's a joke, what they mean is "don't trust your camera with Lexar"

Sorry if I seem a bit angry but when you have lost important wedding images beacuse the compact flash card has a problem then I get angry, Lexar advertise that they are THE professional card, maybe but not with canon.

I would be interested to hear of any other Canon users who have had a problem with Lexar cards as Lexar told me that my case is "extremely rare" i'm not so sure!!

Stick with Sandisk, I will be !!
