Viking rebates

Has anyone had any problems in receiving rebates on the Viking
128MB compact flash?
I have been waiting 2 1/2 months. I have called them up twice and twice they said I have been approved and they will be sending out the check shortly. It has been 2 weeks since the second time they told me they will be sending out the check. It's very frustrating!

Check the Canon forum is you want to know what real frustration is.

VIking is going to loose all of my business if I do not get the rebate. It is not worth my time to write lots of letters and make calls for 25 dollars but I will never order from them again until I do get my rebate... !!

Check the thread on the SmartMedia Viking rebates. Mine was denied
even though my submission was exactly as requested. Amazon made it
good for me, and I never did get any replies from Viking! Good
Luck! Geoff.

I agree, Viking was smart to offer the rebate. I got on board with their product. However, if they rip me off of the $45.00 they owe me, I'll never buy from them again.

Just a suggestion-

Why don't you email this thread over to the CEO of Viking? I am not a lawyer, but you might investigate the rules of rebates with the Post Office (since you used the mail to send it in, I think it falls in their area). If someone investigates and reminds Viking maybe it will light a fire under them. One of you out there must be an attorney, why don't you investigate?
Good luck.

I'm waiting like everyone else. But it is not at all unusual for rebates to take longer than was stated on the rebate forms. Long waits are normal when it comes to rebates.

Not my experience. I've recouped about $300 in rebates in the past two years. The majority list 6 to 8 weeks for processing; in actual experience half of them have arrived in 2 to 3 weeks. These are big companies such as Microsoft, Symantec and Iomega. Good companies respond promptly to rebate requests; these guys make most of their money from consumers that purchase the product with the precalculated lower cost floating around in their head but never actually send in their form. Those who do should be rewarded with prompt service.

I like you have had good experiences with rebates from many companies for many diversified products. It appears that Viking is an exception to that rule. Those who honor their rebate offers should be rewarded with positive reccomendations and repeat business and those that don't shouldn't.

I don't know about the companies that you mentioned, but many companies like Viking use an outside company to handle the rebates. So I have to wonder if it is the rebate processor that is to blame.

But if a company is using a rebate processor that they get a lot of complaints about they should stop using them. It's really stupid for a company to generate this kind of ill will.

Dear Viking Customers,

I am very concerned about each of your individual concerns. I will personally research and reply regarding the status of each of your rebates if you will please email me at [email protected]. In order to expedite the situation please set the title of the email as "Viking Rebate Status", and provide me with your name, address, phone number, and email address (please have it match the information you put on the rebate form).

We have sent out thousands of checks and we still have thousands more to send. We did not anticipate, and perhaps were not properly prepared, for the flood of customers that were so excited about the great offer we started providing a few months ago. We made the proper adjustments to allow for a smoother customer experience. One of the many changes we made was making the rebate itself more user friendly.

For those of you that truly know Viking and have had the opportunity to deal with us over the past 13 years are aware that our company reputation is one of the best in the industry. Be rest assured that we will do whatever is possible to handle your concerns as quickly as possible.

Please take a few moments to send the requested information to the email stated above and I will make sure that a response (or check) is sent to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your business and continued support of the Viking flash product line.

Sincerely,

David Payne
