Olga Johnson took this photo of her Canon cameras. I told her I thought some might like to see it, and she said it was OK to post it. It might put things in perspective for those thinking of choosing a model to their liking.

1D mkII, 20D, 350/Rebel XT, and G3.

You may want to reduce the size to see all four lined up at once. I had not handled or seen a 350D/Rebel XT and was surprised at how much smaller it was than the 20D.

I quite agree with Josh. same reason I got the 20D, just a few days ago...

Juli, I've a question maybe you can help me out with: When I installed the 20D software, the EOS viewer seems to have completely removed my zoombrowser proggy, and my G3 is no longer recognized. I also have an A80. So pretty much like your kit. How do I get all three recoginzed by the same software?
Thanks!

The problem with being at the cutting edge is that you tend to get sliced from time to time.

but I don't use that program. Maybe someone else can suggest how to do it I use C1 and PS CS2. Many like RawShootersEssentials. Have you tried to see if it would do the job?

Oh, I have CS as well, and a couple of other proggies. I just wanted the Zoombrowser for image downloading and thumbnail viewing of raw files- old habit. I haven't installed the G3 twain driver so CS can't help right now, though I'll get that fixed. Unfortunately AcDSee cant do that..

Thats to big for me, although I guess it would balance nicely with a 70-200 IS :-)

D/L & install the new version of ZoomBrowser (v5.21) from Canon. It is now compatible with the 20D as well as all the older supoported cameras. While you are at it, D/L the newest version of any of the other Canon apps you may have installed.

That 1d is a monster and the 350d is a midget! I held the 350 in bestbuy, but didn't really realize how much smaller it was than my 20d. I still wish canon would make a 20d size camera with the integrated vertical grip like the 1d camera, i'd sell my 20d and grip right now to buy one I don't have to screw on.

If they could make the next generation Digital Rebel a little smaller, I'd buy it as my P&S camera that I can stick in my shirt pocket. ;)

from the end of May until the end of November, but after I got the 20D in September, I decided it was more my weight and met my needs. If you shoot a lot of sports and under bad weather conditions, the mkII is a gem. It's a superior camera in lots of ways, just a bit much for travel IMO.

Really, when (since the introduction of the D30) has there NOT been a rumor of a tweener? My personal thought is that the 20D is about as tweener as you can get.

Thanks for the post.

The grip on the XT is how the devil wants it - it must fit his
twisted, tiny claws perfectly because it is not comfortable in any
human hand. 90% of the reason I went for a 20D instead.

Well I dunno about the devil, but I have to agree that the Rebel 350 just doesn't feel comfortable in the hand. It's really just a bit too small and maybe thats why the grip feels so weird. I had considered one as a second body but after looking it over just went ahead and bought another 20D.

One thing is certain about marketing, if they can identify a place where consumers will spend money, they will fill that spot with a product for them to buy.

When they finally build a Full Frame camera that has a reasonable price tag, consumers will jump on it like a duck on a June bug.

I saw what seemed to be a little toy camera attached to a big honkin' lens at the F1 race today - it must have been an XT.

I haven't held one, but it doesn't look like it would be comfortable. Of course, handholding a 10D/grip/70-200 made my hand feel like a claw, so maybe it's not a bad thing.

Pinky under camera; index finger on the shutter; two middle fingers around the grip and if I don't keep my nails any longer than I do, it's perfect in and on my hand.

Heck, even the 70-200IS becomes a breeze to handle on that camera at least in this little wimp's hands. :)
