You all submitted some beautiful images. Like most judges, I had a very hard time picking the winner. You may go to my website to see the images that I felt were the best of the lot: http://www.pbase.com/prosserwm/minichallenge_qualities_of_light&page=all .

The images I liked all had good light, good visual design, and were technically sound (good exposure, proper sharpness, and correct zone of focus.)

Honorable Mentions:

Third:

Second:

I was really torn between Weatherman's image and the
WINNER:

Rodbam

Furthermore, I was amazed to find that Rod had never won one of these Challenges. After all that Rod has contributed to our community, it seemed like time to shut him up and put him to work.

You're up, Rod

Bill

...after checking out the other challenge going on, it appears his newest hobby is pornography! This should be very interesting to say the least.

Seriously; congratulations, Rod. I will be racing to my 'puter tomorrow after work to see what the topic is.

Nice work on this challenge, Bill & thanks for the honorable mention.

Beautiful photo!

Thanks Bill for the exhaustive critiques. This was my first challenge and very fun indeed. Also thank you for the kind honorable mention (exciting!)

A bit off topic, but my flower looks a little worse off than first posted? Is it wilting? Lots of smudging around the edges. Perhaps just the stress of competition. :)

I don't know why but I'm really not prepared for this. I've just logged on & read an email from Paul to say I have won. I haven't got a topic ready. So you will have to give me a bit of time to think. I will have to cancel my abuse of the posh challengers to night to get the new challenge up & running.

First a big thanks to Bill for putting in a super human effort of running the challenge, I think he's put more work in than any hosts before him, not only with quick comments but detailed critiques. Very well done Bill.

Also all the excellent shots submitted were a real treat to look at. I'm off now to think up a topic & have a cuppa tea as I've got butterflies in me tummy & feel a bit nervous in case you all think the new topic sucks.
Ta ta for now & will post a topic soon. Thanks again Bill.

Regards Rod

You are the king of sunset town. Why was the win unexpected, you told me you had promised Bill a tenner if he let you win? Time to pay up mate.

Well done you old goose.

Regards
Paul

Rod,

Thank you for your kind words. Coming from you, they are high praise. I tried to provide useful, constructive comments. I really enjoyed doing it, but it is a lot of work. BTW, I was just trying to keep up with you. You probably made as many comments as I did (OK some were tongue in cheek, but most were also quite useful.)

Bill

Unfortunately, Paul, he forgot to tell me about the "tenner" and would probably have welshed on the deal anyway. So, he won it fair and square--as hard as that may be to believe.

Bill

how to to make you win those contests: just make the subject "Sunsets" :-)
Good for you, mate.

And Bill, I enjoyed this challenge even though I didn't send pictures this time.

Regards,
