I tired pulling them up on ResellerRatings but the company is not there!

I think I'm going to stick with buydig.com seeing as they are BBB certified and Cnet Certified if that means just a little bit more protection. (if any)

Also you better hope you don't get grey market merchandise!

They are a Yahoo! store so that gives me a great piece of mind. Not to mention, the site lists the rebate form as part of the package. To me, that's pretty straight-foward dealing.

$497 is the current price at buydig.com as well. I trust them based on my own experience and their overall ratings on resellerratings, bizrate, etc. Hope your purchase works out OK.

I just ordered mine today, thanks for the great tip Sean!

As for the rest of you--you guys are pretty paranoid :p Personally, I've had a bad experience with BuyDig in the past (basically, a camera that was always "out of stock but coming in any day now" and a pushy salesman--no thank you, I still don't want a case or UV filter), and GetDigital seems to be on the up and up. I've never had a problem with a Yahoo e-merchant, and I've ordered from over a dozen of them in the past.

It basically comes down to this--twenty bucks is nothing for peace of mind. If you feel safer going with Buydig, then your twenty bucks is well spent if it'll make you sleep better :)

One thing to be aware of though--GetDigital sells FUJI brand multimedia cards. The rebate offer is only good for OLYMPUS brand multimedia cards.
 
I know it's bad form to post a follow-up to yourself, but I just got off the phone with GetDigital confirming my order, and here's the deal:

-The 2100's are classified as "Class-A Refurbished Units"

-According to the person I spoke with (Henry), GetDigital purchased the stock of another company that went out of business. All the units were sent to Olympus for certification as Class-A's.
-They are basically new-in-box and come with the Olympus 90-day warranty
-Because they are refurbs, they are INELIGIBLE for the $100 rebate.

He could tell when I heard about the rebate that I was ready to cancel my order, so he gave me a little bit off the top on a package deal. For $649.99 before shipping and insurance I got a refurbished 2100, a High Speed 64meg card, a 1600 NiMH rapid battery charger and four batteries, and "a deluxe case."

I price-checked the same items at BuyDig.com and my order came out to $705.98--$725.98 if you substitute the Olympus brand card in so you can get the rebate. Pre-rebate, GetDigital is still cheaper, but for most people the refurb/no-rebate combo will be enough to throw the order in BuyDig's favor.

Personally, since the post-rebate price difference is only $24, and because of the bad experience I had with BuyDig earlier, I still chose to give my money to GetDigital in the end. Your mileage may vary.
 
For $647.00 (before shipping), I got a new C2100 that comes with 4 Olympus NiMH batteries (1600mA) AND charger, plus 8mb and 128mb Olympus Smartmedia cards. USB and audio/video cables and software also came with the camera. A remote control is also included? I did not get a "deluxe" carry case, but I think my Buydig deal is better....

I did read here that someone received their $100 rebate for their Buydig purchase, so $547 (before shipping) sounds even better.

All told, I paid $681.95 (2nd day AIR) - just need to submit the rebate (with fingers crossed).

Not to make anyone feel bad, but it appears that good shopping experiences can be had at Buydig.

It appears that Getdigital is not an Olympus authorized reseller from the threads I've read. Oh well, there goes the rebate (I'm still sending in the paperwork; what could it hurt?) I spent at least a half-hour with Buydig haggling over the price of Olympus brand Smart Media. He was going to knock the $100.00 off the front of a $189 64mb card so I'd pay only $89 dollars. That's no deal when I can find it elsewhere for about $60, or even non-Oly 64mb cards for $31. He was on the fringe of being rude, but definitely thought I was stupid.

I gave my money to Getdigital (who was pleasant enough and wanted to make the deal happen) and for $582 I got the c-2100uz in full retail packaging, next day air (I'll have it tomorrow) and a 3-year warranty that covers all parts and labor and is fully transferable. The sweetest deal? Maybe not but I got a camera I think I'll be very happy with.

I will say this, dealing with Getdigital and even Buydig was a refreshing change from walking into BestBuy and paying whatever's on the sticker. On some level, they gave you the sense that you can set your own price and even your package. Just a thought

The 2100 comes with a NiMH charger and four NiMH AA batteries already in the box, so the additional charger seems a bit redundant. Also, there's not really any such thing as a "high speed" Smartmedia card -- they're pretty much indistinguishable brand-to-brand (to ensure compatibility).

I'll be interested to see what the "deluxe case" is -- is it Olympus brand or something else?

If memory serves me well, the 2100 will NOT work with anything bigger than a 64Meg Card.

Be careful if you buy from shopping.yahoo.com.I went there and the prices from the listed vendor are much higher than if you went to their site directly!......Example,if you look for a C-2100 at Broadway Photo via http://www.shopping.yahoo.com the price is $619 if you go to Broadway Photo's web site @ http://www.bwayphoto.com the price is $500

I checked a second site on Yahoo,E-SSENTIALLYYOURSDIGITAL had the C2100 at $ 639 now go directly to essentiallyyoursdigital.com and the price is $ 547

Now I'm not saying that all vendors on Yahoo are inflated,but I would check before I bought from one.

BTW: I just found this site and am very impressed with the content and the knowaldgeable people in these forums.I have found a photo home :)

That's a great heads-up, Michael,

& $500 might be the best on-line price right now as buydig has bumped up to $516 (and is on '3 day' backorder). Looks like the 2100 feeding frenzy by the fanatics on this forum brought buydig to their knees!
Hoping I'll get JandR to pricematch Broadway when I order next week...

I didn't know the camera came with a NiMH charger before I bought it, but I wanted a second set of batteries anyway. As for the second charger, I'm sure I can find someone to give it to.

High Speed is the brand of memory, not an adjective. Search for High Speed on another retailer, such as buydig.com, to check. "Deluxe case" probably just means it uses a slightly higher grade of fake leather, or has more pockets or something. I'll post a picture when I get it :P

Did I get a deal, especially when compared to retail? Yes. Did I get everything I wanted? Yes. Did I get the best deal? Not by a long shot, but I'm still happy.

Steve,I wasn't trying to steer anyone toward a retailer,I just wanted to point out the big difference on prices on Yahoo's redirect Vs. the internet.

and the sites that I used were at random.The reason that I post this is I have read many complaints about Broadway Photo's sales tactics and also that many of the cameras they sell are "grey market"

So use that price of $500 as a bargining tool, but please note, while I have never had dealings with B'way the strong negitive remarks that I have seen posted would lead me to exclude them of any consideration
 
I went with dbuys.com, and all went well.

For $680 including FedEx shipping, I got the camera (USA warranty, not gray market), the UV filter, an Olympus 64meg SmartMedia card, and a leather camera bag. (not sure the brand, but it is a really nice case, and real leather, too!)

I wasn't going to buy any accessories, and the salesman was not at all pushy about it, but considering the price he gave me, and then put it on a receipt as a $130 memory card so I could get the full $100 back, I figured I may as well.

After dealing with them I can honestly say that I would buy from them again.
