Does anyone have any history with this lens on the SLRn. I have the chance to purchase one and believe it would fit my needs very well.

Additionally, how does it work? Does the Fstops on the DC control represent the desired affect? The Nikon site does not offer a download of the manual [that I could find].

Thanks.

Yup! got both the 105 and the 135, one word only. SUPERB performers, works brillantly with the Kodaks, never any problems.
Now these DC optics are mainly for portrait artists, hence the DC.
I use them mainly for Industrials, segregate certain parts etc.

I suggest you contact Nikon for a manual or something. The answer to your question is however: they are truly superb and expensive.

I did end up buying the lens earlier today. Nirto K. posted some shots from his 105 and replied to my post on his thread.

I wanted the same photographic affect that my 150s gave my portraits with my square format film cameras. I had used 105's on the 35mm format, but they just did not give me the DOF that the 150 did on my square format-- though field of view was about the same. This was always my concern the the smaller "dx" format sensors. Certainly, smaller focal length lenses would give me the same field of view, but compression and DOF are certainly different.

All I have to do now is figure out how to use it, as there is no manual nor did the seller have any experience. Can't be too hard to figure out...I guess.

Simply set the apeature setting on the front to the working apeature you've set - to the right if you want the blurr effect behind the subject, the the left to blurr in front of the subject. In the middle and it's really sharp! Set the defocus before you focus the lens!

You'll get to love this lens!

Thank you for the instruction. I had purchased the lens to replicate my 150 on medium format. I love the focal length, but was hoping I would have more control of DOF shooting at higher f-stops. Due to the 1/125 flash sync., I believed this lens would produce good portrait DOF at higher f-stops.

Unfortunately, the settings only go to 5.6 [as you know], so I ordered a B+W 2 stop ND filter for this as I did with my 35-70.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I see affects on highlights, when using the control, more than I see any "de-focus."

I like the lens regardless. For full length portraits of Brides, Grooms or as couples, this is just a great focal length.
