Now that the 775 is out. Canon s110/s300 vs. Nikon 775 - Who is the winner?

I don't think there is a clear winner here. I have both cameras right now and after taking several shots, I can see that the S110 rules on sharpness. But I feel the white balance on the 775 is way better at least for indoor shots both daytime and nighttime. > 90% of the time, i don't need to adjust anything in Photoshop. whereas with the S110, i need to do Auto Levels and then adjust Hue/Saturation 90% of the time. i'd rather do an Unsharp Mask with the 775 when I want to print 8x10's (which will be rare and is very easy to automate) than have to do color manipulation individually for most pics taken with the S110. usually i would need to shrink these pics by 33% anyway to share them via a website with friends/family so sharpness isn't a big issue.

right now, i'm really favoring the 775. but i'll do some outdoor testing too. i need to decide whether to keep this camera with its 2 hot pixels, or exchange for another 775 with Dell. other people who have tried both cameras will choose the S110 for other reasons.

i was hoping the S110 would perform better because it's the tinier camera and more comfortable to my small hands... and more comfortable to put on a neck strap (because the hook isn't at a corner). damn, i made my own neckstrap for it too.

btw, i've tried the white balance presets on the S110 and they still aren't as good as auto white balance on the 775. S110 photos are a bit too yellow/orange.

I am still not sure why this comparison is made, is it put out as a flame???

The 775 for my money is the better of the three as it has a much greater range esp with the possibility of using a 2x TC. From what I can see with the 775 you get a dinky dc at least as good as the competition but with better future possibilities, there is none on the elph cameras.

Curt Magen, this is not a flame. I don't know why you would think this. This comparison question has been asked many times before the 775 came out. Many people on this board are interested to see which is the better digital camera.

Try setting it to tungsten, I think that is supposed to get rid of the orange effect

thanks... but I have done that :(. It's still yellowish compared to the 775 (although better than Auto). And during daytime when there is enough sunlight indoors, choosing Tungsten, Auto or Sunlight still produces yellowish effects. I'll play with it some more, see if there is some way i haven't tried to improve my colors.... it is awesome outdoors though.
