Hi!

Is there any way to download the CR2 files directly from the 20D into Photoshop CS2? I already tried the import via WIA with both settings (PTP and Nomal). Using WIA only allows you to download JPEG and no CR2.

In Photoshop Elements 3.0 is an own dialog that pops up as soon as you connect to the computer with the 20D. It would be a real disadvantage to PS Elements 3.0 if you couldn't do it in CS2 somehow.

Thanx for the help

loc

PS: I tried the search but didn't find anything on CS2 concerning this problem...

You should be using adobe bridge with CS 2 to handle your raw files...it is a separate program from CS2 that came with it.

Having said that, the most efficient way to do raw files on CS 2 is to simply drag your photo from your CF card reader to your HD and then lauch adobe bridge to view the raw files. Then choose the ones you want to convert with the adobe bridge application. head on over to adobe website, they have tutorials for people new to photoshop CS, it appears you are too used to using the beginner version of photoshop...Elements. Look up on how to use adobe bridge.

You can use downloader pro from breezesys. It is a program that allows you to download the .cr2 files from 20d to your computer.Obvioulsy I think there is a trial period and then you have to purchase it.Or you could just buy a CF card reader and they are very cheap $10-$15.With the card reader you can also upgrade the firmware of the camera whereas with downloader pro you can not.

I have the same problem.

I updated Photoshop CS2 and Elements 3.0 with the 3.1 Camera raw plugin but neither application recognizes my CR2 file or RAW+jpg file.

For that matter, when opening up the folder on the CF card using: My computer\20D\141 Canon\ the CR2 file is not shown. It is there, however when running the Canon EOS Viewer Utility under file EOS20D\1\DCIM\141 Canon.

For some reason, windows explorer, PhotoshopCS2 and Elements 3.0 are not admitting the existence of the CR2 file?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

This sounds interesting. What is the name of the plugin?
It is the Adobe Camera Raw 2.4 update for Photoshop CS.

The listed cameras for this plugin:
Canon
---------
EOS 20D
PowerShot S70
PowerShot G6
EOS-1Ds Mark II

Konica Minolta
-------------------
Maxxum 7D / Dynax 7D
DiMage A200

You can find the plugin in the Adobe website here::
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2701

The 3.1 (for CS2) plugin is here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2931

I think I saw something about CS2 reading CR2 files natively (no plugin required). Anyone can confirm this?

Best regards,
Bruno.

Hi!

I already use the plugin but as far as I know you can only access pictures already downloaded to your HD and none still in the camera, right? What I was looking for was a possibility to directly download CR2 from the camera into PS CS2...
