Thanks to all (on Canon Talk and Nikon Talk) for the help in deciding between Nikon Coolpix 995 and the Canon G1 and Canon Pro90 IS.

I want the Nikon Coolpix 995!!

Please let me know of a reputable on-line (or off-line in Los Angeles area) dealer with great prices. I also want a wide-angle lens or even a fish-eye lens. Quick charging battery system would be nice.

I only discovered this website 2 days ago and feel like I've taken an extensive seminar in digital cameras. I only wish there was a mountain bike site as complete as this.

I got my 995 two days ago from PhotoAlley.com for $799.00 free shipping...

they had a discount of $100.00, camera was listed at $899.00 also if you go thru ebates.com you get an X 4% off.(about $32 bucks)

Good luck and welcome to the Club.

regards.

Frances.

I bought mine from photoalley.com for 799.95 + fed ex (free)

They are the cheapest available to me at that moment , but I'm process to get pricematch to 615 with my blue Amex now.

they have very good customer support.

I ask them that my camera is defective ? they'll send the second one for me as a replacement and will reimburse the bill for shipping it back to them.

You can take a look at BizRate.com to get a list of merchants that sell Digital cameras. And browse for the best pricing. I would expect the best price is about $750 for a full in the Nikon box camera. Add shipping and you are at about $775. But who knows there may be a better deal out there today.

Watch for the low price scams. There are some merchants quoting low 995 prices less than $700, but they take the camera out of the box and then sell the parts separately, so you have to buy the battery and charger, Compact Flash card back. By the time to add all the contents of the Nikon box back in then you are at a considerably higher price. I refuse to buy from such dealers on principle one example was Broadway Photo.

Happy hunting.

Thanks to all.

These were grey market, used, no US warranty, non-English manuals, or rude service people, etc. problem on-line camera retailers:

Regency Camera, Royal camera, PhotoKing (aka: expresscamera), CompDirect, Digital e-Tailor, Broadway Photo, i4Digital.

Buydig.com had wierd testimonials. Either 5stars or 1 star. Suspicious that there are fake 5 star testimonials.

Good reviews from PhotoAlley, cameraworld.

THere are some good prices at: http://electronics.price.com/prices.htm?SearchCriteria=nikon%20coolpix&id=-2146255023 but I don't know how reputable they are... I am going to buy the 995 myself in about 5 days. I had the 950 and loved it but lost it in a restaurant in Florida.. so am now going to upgrade to the 995. Don

I also got my camera through Photoalley.com for the same price as Frances. They were very professional and easy to deal with. I also recommend them. Steven

Hi,

I bought my 995 camera from Buydig.com. I ordered it on a Saturday and received it on the next Thursday. This was about 2 weeks ago. They did call me up on Monday and offer me some accessories, but they excepted my "no" and shipped it that day. They were not rude, had a very good price, and met all of their commitments. The funny thing is, I bought my camera for $713. That price only ran for one weekend. Then, they ran their 995 price to over $800. Today it is at $729. I don't understand why they vary it so much, but they worked for me.

I am not in the market yet for the 995.....love my 990 and 950....but was searching for a faster CF card....

Came upon this

Please, do not berate me if it is "too good to be true".....I did no research on them and know nothing....the price caught my eye....
Usually when a price is that good, it's out of stock....
.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along for what it is or isn't worth to those of you who are searching......

That's what I get for tring to help!! Just went back and noticed they are in the DREADED New York retailer market!!! Sorry!!

I was looking at http://www.dbuys.com $739.00 and Ground is $29.90 accross country or $39.90 for 2 day air. They have a 5star rating at Yahoo and are ranked 12th at http://www.resellerratings.com

http://www.resellerratings.com/comview.cgi?Dbuys.com

Hope this helps. I am thinking of buying from there does anybody know of any other good buys.
